Chapter 41
*Solstice*
I walked away. I was so confused, I saw Shine, but she was in my imagination. Everything.
But... She was mute now? Somehow that didn't make any sense. But it couldn't have really been her, she was up in the sky, having the best time of her life without me.I sighed as I kept walking, somehow I found myself standing in front of Bae's hut. I needed him right now.
I knocked on the door, and a second later Bae answered and pulled me inside.
"How are you?" Bae asked once I was inside, concern was written on his face.
"To be honest, awful." I looked at him, "I'm still having hallucinations. I saw Cale in a dream this morning, and I thought I saw Shine when I was out on a walk."
"But I thought that would've passed."
"That's what I thought too, I guess it's like a side effect to the Star Fever. I guess that symptom will always be with me." I told him, hating the thought of it. "I didn't know what to do so I walked here."
Bae nodded then smiled, "I'm glad you did." He took my hands in his.
"Bae?" I questioned, "Are you going to leave Neverland?"
His eyes showed genuine shock, "of course not. Not without you." He gave me a soft smile, "I will never leave you. I promise."
A smile spread across my face, and I leaped into Baelfire's arms. "You're my best friend." I whispered to him,
He smiled, "you're mine too."
Happiness overwhelmed me. I laced our hands together, never wanting to let go.
"Come on," Bae motioned me to follow, "I have someplace I want to show you."
I smiled again, and we left his hut to go into the forest. After about ten minutes of walking, we arrived at a cave. Baelfire pulled me inside.
It was like any other cave, same rock walls and floor, same jagged edges. Except this cave had things in it. It had a small bed, a few candles in coconuts, water, food, wooden chairs, and on the wall were chalk marks, counting each day that he has been here.
I walked over to the marked wall, I didn't know what to say so I kept my mouth shut."I did that when I first got here." Bae said, "I was counting days, hoping my family would come and rescue me."
I turned around to face him; I could tell he was hurting, so I walked over to him and held his hand. "We'll get off Neverland, together." I smiled up at him.
"Sol," he whimpered, "I'm sorry."
"For what?" I asked, confused on what he was apologizing for.
"For making you feel like I didn't care." He answered.
Then it clicked, he was talking about the day when we first kissed. How he pulled away so suddenly. I shrugged, "I put my nose where it didn't belong. You had every right to be mad. In fact I should be the one to apologize."
Then Bae snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him, then placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
Pulse skyrocketing, I kissed back, never wanting these moments to end. My heart raced and I felt my cheeks go red; I must've looked like a tomato.
"Solstice," Baelfire's voice was now a soft whisper but also husky, making me swoon, "I love you."
I gazed directly in his chocolate eyes, no signs of deception were there. He was telling the truth.
"I love you too."
I once thought nothing good came of my decision to come here, but I was so wrong. Each and every kiss reminded me of that. Baelfire was my happy ending. He was mine, and we would get off of Neverland together.

She loved me. She said she loved me. I couldn't contain what I felt. I kissed her again, wanting to show her how much I cared for her.
But then I thought of telling her my past. She had a right to know. But I was afraid of bringing it up—That all the pain I compressed for so long would be too much for me to handle.
Sol's skin was radiantly bright. Something that I never noticed before. I decided to wait. To wait until these cherished moments were over.
"Can all our apologizes be like this?" Solstice breathed, our noses touching, mischief was in her innocent eyes. Her cheeks were scarlet, also giving another sign that she cared.
I smiled at her, "I have no objections."
My once crappy life has taken a turn for the better. I found a lost star. My lost star. I will do anything to keep her safe. She was my best friend, someone who I couldn't live without.
Without hesitating, I placed one more kiss on her lips. Just one more.

It was exciting to see this hidden side of Baelfire. I was right before, he did have fire in his eyes. Calm but dangerous. Never in my life has anyone showed me this much affection. I never knew this side of him before, I only had a glimpse of it that day we first kissed, but that was nothing compared to now.
His kisses were sweet and caring, nothing like Pan's or Cale's. Cale was just dirty, a planer and a sneak. Pan was manipulative and a monster. But I soon forgot about Pan and Cale. I forgot about everything in my past. I focused on the now; on my true love.
He is my lost boy, and nothing would change that.
