There is always some excitement on the first day of school. You get to meet your friends again, make new friends and a new student might join your class. But then there's sadness too. All the homework, getting into a fight with someone and getting your heart broken. Not all of these things happens, but in this case, all of this is true.

This is the story of Makoto's first love.

Makoto really is the kindest human being on the planet. Always smiling, always polite, always helping. Let's begin with the smiling part.

It was a warm and sunny summer day. The wind was only blowing slightly. Sun, warmth and a summer breeze. Could it get any better? Of course it could. After closing the door behind him and shouting "I'm heading to school!", Makoto heard a little cute meow a few steps down from the stairs that were leading up to his house. Without a second thought, the brunette headed straight for that cute sound. On the steps of the now slightly warmer stone staircase, was a little white kitten. The usual kitten that would greet the kind boy every morning. He bent down to pet the small ball of fur. A purr would always escape the kittens tiny mouth. Today was no exception. They say that a cat's purring is relaxing for the human mind and body. You don't always think about it, but you always smile once that sound is heard. Relaxed and smiling. The best combination for a sunshine personality. This may be the reason to why Makoto is this ball of sunshine.

The kitten laid himself on his back with his tiny tennis ball paws in the air as if telling Makoto to pet him more. Once the boy saw this sight, he smiled even more, even brighter. Touching the soft fluffy fur made him forget about his surroundings. The cat suddenly jumped up and disappeared  in the bushes. The brunette felt a little sad but then realized that he had to hurry up and get his friend, to make sure he wasn't drowning in the bath.

Makoto stood up and quickly spun around, which made him hit something. Or someone. Once he saw that it was a person that he had bumped into he quickly apologized, bowing over and over again with his eyes closed in embarrassment.
"No no I'm sorry. I didn't see you. Sorry"

That voice was the most angelic thing he had ever heard. His heart skipped a beat. Or maybe two. He straightened himself up and laid his eyes on the most beautiful sight ever. A petite, bright girl with the same school uniform as himself. It took him a moment to take in this sight. Her hair was shining in the sunlight and her eyes, her eyes were the most gorgeous ones in the entire world. They where the prettiest shade of [e/c] and they were almost sparkling. But they weren't making eye contact with each other. She was looking at something else. Makoto wanted to ask what she was staring at but he didn't want to be rude so he let that one slide. Just when the boy opened his mouth to ask the girl about her name, he got interrupted by a familiar voice. "Makoto." He looked up to see his best friend Haruka standing at the top of the stairs. The friend that he was supposed to save from a bath drowning incident. "Ah, Haru! Good morning! I was just about to come get you but I was talking to someone." His friend looked confused as he couldn't see anyone near where Makoto were. "Who?"he asked. "Oh, uhm." Makoto turned to where the girl stood, although, she wasn't there anymore. "Weird", he thought to himself. "W-what if it was a ghost!" He started to mentally freak out but his friend took him back to reality. Haruka passed him by when he didn't respond to him. "Wah! Haru, wait up!"

After a few minutes of walking, the two boys arrived at school, standing by the schools gate like a couple of cool kids. Makoto's eyes suddenly got attached to a girl that was sitting on the stairs at the entrance. It was that girl. The brunette told his friend that he was going to head to class first. He walked towards the pretty girl and stuttered out a nervous "H-Hello." The girl flinched. "Hi." She answered back in a sweet tone. "Are you new here? I haven't seen you around?" Makoto wanted for some reason to get to know her so he just started a little conversation. "Was that supposed to be a pickup line?" she questioned, sounding a little offended. "No no! You've got me wrong. I just saw you here, sitting alone and I though I would talk to you since we didn't get a chance to do that this morning." "Oh, it's you. Alright then. I am new here. It is my first day and I didn't know where to go so I just sat myself down here." Makoto felt that this was a great opportunity to talk a bit more with her. And also to help her, which he was always glad to do. "Do you want me to show you?" The boy asked kindly. "Really? Thanks!" She smiled warmly which made Makoto's heart beat a thousand times faster. It was a refreshing smile, kind and warm. "My name is Makoto by the way." He stretched out his hand to shake hers but she didn't take it. "[y/n], nice to meet you Makoto." Hearing her say his name made him almost fall over. "Nice to meet you too. I'll show you the way to the principals office." The girl nodded and started to get up. But she was taking something out of her hand that she had been holding. It was something that looked like a roll of metal. She unfolded it and it turned into a cane. "Ready whenever you are." She said sweetly. Does she have trouble walking? Is that what the cane is for? Makoto questioned what the girl was doing but then suddenly realized something when she was tapping the cane on the ground.

She's blind.
