Harry had never wanted any girl more than how badly he wanted Aspyn.
She was beautiful, funny, sweet and fun.
And yet she was also detached, worn out, cold and a complete flight risk.
She made everything exciting.
She made everything glamorous.
She was an oxymoron of herself.
She was complicated, yet simple.
She was giving Harry a boner.
“Do you want to walk home,” Harry asked, walking behind her.
Aspyn agreed and Harry took her by the hand. He led her to the Redwood Bypass, a deserted scenic overlook no one ever goes to.
“Is this how we’re getting home?” Aspyn asked, leaning against the wall overlooking the mountains.
“I figured we could make a pit stop.”
“How did Alice know you?”
“What do you mean?”
“When she asked you what you were addicted to, she said your name. You hadn’t said your name yet, how did she know it?”
“Oh. She’s Jake’s mom. I’ve met her a couple times.”
“She’s Jake’s mom?”
Harry nodded, moving closer to her.
“That figures.”
Harry laughed. Aspyn looked up at him and then back out over the view of the sun setting, painting hues of pink and orange all over the sky.
“This is pretty.”
Harry nodded.
“Romantic, too. Are you trying to set the mood?” Aspyn laughed, nudging him in the stomach.
“You could say that,” he smiled, turning towards her. He put his left hand on her hip and his right hand on her neck. She moved just close enough so their lips almost touched.
“So what are you addicted to, Harry?” Aspyn whispered, running her hands through his hair.
Harry smirked and pulled her in. He kissed her, lightly. He slowly moved his hand off her neck and onto her lower back. He began kissing her harder. She tasted like cigarettes.
“Hey Harry! You getting some ass tonight?” A man called out. Aspyn jumped back. Harry turned around. Jake and all of them were sitting in a pickup truck. Harry felt Aspyn move behind him and put her hand on his back. He knew she wanted him to do something. He knew she wanted them to leave.
No such thing happened.
Jake hopped out of the truck and walked over to Harry. He hit his chest and moved him out of the way to see who was standing behind him.
“Oh hot damn. Is that you, Aspyn?” Jake barked, loudly laughing afterword as though he’d made some hilarious comment. He turned back to Harry.
“What did I tell you, man? I wanted this bitch first. But hey, you didn’t go all the way so I guess we’re cool. But man, remember bros before hoes.”
