"Hannah, get your ass out of bed. You keep missing school like this and you won't pass the 9th grade." My mom yelled.

How fucking pleasant.

"Of course, mom. I'll be ready in an hour." I said.

I crawled out of bed and began to search for an outfit. I settled with my every day boring look. Black skinny jeans, a band t shirt, and converse.

And my bracelets of course.

I brushed on some mascara and managed to cover the bruise that had taken over the left side of my face.

I braided my hair to the side and walked down the stairs.

"Mom?" I questioned.

"In the laundry room!" She yelled back.

I walked down the hall so my mother could examine my face before I left for school.

"It's covered pretty well. Now leave before your fucking late again!" My mom yelled in my face.

Her breath wreaked of rum and cigarettes.

I walked out of the house in a hurry.

"Alright Han, you can do this. Survive today. Make your father proud." I whispered to myself as I opened the doors to Monroe Highschool.
