It was just another normal sunny morning, like any other. But today, was special.
For it was Mother's Day. Ahhh, Mother's Day. A day, dedicated for moms. Forgetful moms, regretful moms, sweet moms, warm moms, old moms, step moms, half moms, pregnant moms, first time moms, moms that passed away, moms. They're our mothers.
I had a mother. Well, I still do.
Her name is Nancy, and I love her so. Much. That feud between us in the 90s was stupid, it's over now. It's okay. It's the past, we're all good.
I decided to spend this Mother's day with a visit from me and Justin. Because I love my mom. She kept me, she decided to grow me in her tummy. She gave birth to me, brought me into this world. She raised me, fed me, and watched me grow. I love my mom. Moms are special. Moms are fun. Moms make you feel, that warm heat in your chest.
Mom, you brought me into this world, raised me, and cared for me. And she still loves me, to this day. Every mother loves their daughter. Deep in their heart, there's a heart shaped puzzle piece in their heart. If anything happened to their daughter, the piece would shrivel, dry, and die. And it causes their heart to do the same. And I never want for my mother to feel bad and/or alone on Mother's Day. Or ever. So I decided to...
*sound of dialing number*
"Hello?" A woman answers.
"Hello."
"Jennifer? Is that you?" The woman asks, and in her heart, holds a place to forever remember that voice.
"Yeah, hey mom. Happy mother's day. I just wanted to call you, and tell you that I love you."
"Oh, Jennifer. I love you too sweetheart, thank you." Nancy smiles through the phone.
"I've got a surprise for you, mom."
"What's that, sweetie?" Nancy smiles, thinking of her caring daughter.
"Come to your front door and you'll see."
So Nancy slowly walks to her front door, looks through the peephole, and nearly has a heart attack. But it's a good one, not the kinds that elders get. A happy one.
She opens the door to see her daughter Jennifer, and her son in law, hand in hand.
"Oh my god, Jennifer!" she hugs her daughter tight. "Justin!" she hugs him.
"Oh!" she says as tiny drops of tears start to fall lightly but fast from her eyes.
"Ma, I love you. We both do."
"Oh come in, come in!"
So Jennifer and Justin stepped into Nancy's house.
They look around, it's sort of a paradise for Jennifer. Antiques and original artworks fill the place. She knew she'd gotten her love for original and antiques pieces from her mother.
She led them to the living room, as Nancy poured tea and laid out fresh butter cookies out for the lovely couple.
She sat down across from them, and smiled.
The sweet couple smiled as well.
"Jennifer, thank you so much for this gift. You are such a sweet girl. I'm so happy I raised such a caring and beautiful girl. Oh, look at you two. So sweet. Lovely couple."
"Thank you," the couple kindly thanked.
"Your daughter is incredible, she's gorgeous, and amazing, so down to earth, and kind. Just like you."
"Thank you, Justin. I'm so proud I have such a wonderful son in law that I can trust to care over my daughter's life." she smiled.
"Mom," Jennifer looked at her mother, and gulped that meant in a way of clearing one's throat. "I love you so much. Happy mother's day."
