I Wish

I wrote this piece in college. It was written on a piece of yellow pad paper. Surprisingly, though crumpled, I still found it.

The world stopped when I woke up from a dream,

Here I stand dumbfounded by problems I didn't see,

Raised by a stable family, with my needs ready for me,

I was taught with so many lessons,

but was blinded by my possessions.

Poverty, crimes and injustice were slapped on my face,

People suffer and cry for help and some even fall out of grace,

There are traces of issues that time can't erase,

I wish I can be their hero and save them through my ways.

If I could give all my strength,

If only I could share all I've learned,

If I could be able to revive every breath,

Will this world be forsaken?

I wish the pain I could seize,

I wish all the chaos turns to peace,

The thirst of a better life, I wish I could quench,

All these wonderful things,

I wish,

I wish.
