Best Friends?: Odell Beckham Jr.

Prologue

"What do you mean I need to stay away from him?" Camille asked Odell through the phone.

"Because I know how he is with girls and I'm just looking out for you." Odell said sternly trying not to add too much emotion.

"Look out for your girlfriend and then call me later." Camille said hanging the phone up.

Camille had been good friends with Odell since LSU. She transferred to Columbia University junior year trying to get a better education and not be distracted by all the drama.

Camille was the coach's daughter. Her mother was African-American and yes of course her father is white. Her mother died in a car accident years earlier when Camille was just one, and Camille could never understand why her father married so quickly after. She never liked Kathy. She tried her best to avoid the "happy family" at all cost.

Odell, on the other hand, was in a relationship he didn't like. He is in love with Camille. Strongly in love. He just doesn't know how to tell her without jeopardizing the friendship. Odell could never keep a relationship for a month without calling it quits, or the girlfriend thinking he's cheating with Camille.

They couldn't understand what was wrong with a boy and a girl just being good friends. Nothing more, nothing less.

Odell was just getting out of practice and was heading home. He was physically and emotionally drained. He hated when he couldn't have what he wanted.

"Odell where are you?" His girlfriend Angela's voice said through the car speaker.

"On my way to my mom's. Where you at?" He lied hoping she wouldn't want to come over.

"At my apartment. When are you going home?"

"I don't know yet, but I'll call you when I get there."

"Okay, bye."

Odell didn't understand why he continued to lead girls on. He wasn't going to love them. He loved Camille just as much as he loved football, but the only other thing besides asking Camille out was that he didn't want to hurt her if they did end up together. He knew how easy it was for girls to get his attention. And Camille thought of him as a player.
