Dawnstar's Decision

Epilogue

The sun was setting on the horizon and the whole camp was quiet while they waited for Dawnsky, Lakeheart, and Foxgaze to leave the camp. More then a season had passed since Dawnsky and Nightstar had their narrow escape from Bear and Patch. Now Nightstar was dead, after being brutally murdered by rogues. No one seemed to know how or why he was so far out of camp in the middle of the night, but the next morning his mutilated body was found with rogue scent and rabbit blood on it. Everyone was horrified by his violent death, especially Foxgaze, who had just became a warrior and was doing her silent vigil that night.

Dawnsky hated that he had such a sudden end to his leadership and his life, and she had a pretty good idea as to who would have murdered him that way.

"Let's go." she mewed to the group. She waited for Lakeheart to finish instructing Leafpaw on how to take care of Willowfur, who was pregnant with Storm's kits, if she happened to give birth that night.

Firefur and Longfang waited to see them off, "May Star Clan light your path." Longfang meowed to them.

"And yours." she replied as they padded through the thorn tunnel.

She couldn't believe that she was about to become leader of IceClan. She exhaled shakily, thinking of all the new responsibilities she would have after she visited the moonstone to receive her nine lives. They headed out of camp into the forest, and she lead the way. Please keep the clan safe while we're away, she silently prayed.

They moved swiftly through the shadowy pine forest. The sun had already gone down when they reached the lake, and Dawnsky shuddered. Even though the ice had melted moons ago, she still was afraid to go near the lake.

Soon they were out of IceClan territory and walking on the grassy hills of MoorClan. She could feel the cool breeze on her fur, and she sighed. I can't believe that I'm just one night away from being leader! She thought with joy, Dawnstar is such a cool name! And Shadowstripe can't stop me now, no matter what he tries.

Shadowstripe had barely visited her after she found out about his plans that ultimately failed in the end. The only night that he had visited her, he was in a furious mood. He had warned her, "I'm not through with you yet! I won't be through with you till you're dead! I will take everything you love and destroy it!" He then had scratched her across the face and dissapeared.

Dawnsky had never got the chance to ask him if he was the one that saved her. She knew that he was most likely embarrassed that he had failed on a cat that he considered weak. Ha! I'm stronger then you thought I was, huh Shadowstripe? She thought with satisfaction.

Before they knew it, they had already reached the dark and foreboding tunnel that lead to the Moonstone. She shivered, stepping back. Am I ready for this? Will I be a good leader? Many questions entered her mind all at once, and she started to worry. Will I be remembered after I die? What if I'm a terrible leader? What if Patch and Bear come back and kill me?

Lakeheart was already about to enter with Foxgaze, "Dawnsky?"

Dawnsky stepped foward hesitantly, but then stopped. What if I can't do this? Suddenly she felt as if there was someone standing next to her, and she felt a calm, reassuring sense sweep over her.

"You will do great," she heard her father's voice in her mind, "you are strong, and you will be an amazing leader. Just think, you have been training for this your whole life. You know what happens if you make a bad decision and how it will effect not only you, but the whole clan. So are you ready?"

"Are you ready, Dawnsky?" Lakeheart mewed.

She took a deep breath, "More than ever." she mewed in an assured tone. She then followed Lakeheart into the dark tunnel, knowing that a new life was waiting for her at the end of it. She wasn't scared anymore, and she walked confidently fowards, knowing that she had never been more ready for it.

((YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! I FINALLY FINISHED!!!!!! *does really awkward happy dance*
Well anyways, I just wanted to thank everyone who actually read this from beginning to end. It made me feel really happy that some people actually read it, since this is the first story I have ever actually finished. So thank you everyone!!!!!! :DDDDDD
