Chapter 4: Return of the General

Johnny's PoV

I was in a deep sleep when I saw her. She was smiling at me. Like she was happier now. She took my hand when I awoke. Right in front of me... Was Jax. I sigh and sit up, "What's up Jax?" I ask. He seemed happy, which was strange.
"You need to see something. Right now." He says, dragging me out of my comfy bed. I throw on a shirt and go outside with Jax. Standing right there.. Was the one and only..

Sonya Blade

I stare at her in shock. "Th...Th-This isn't funny Jax." I say, turning to him. Sonya takes a step closer to me.
"This is real Cage. See for yourself." Jax says, pushing me closer to her. I examine her. She seemed real... But I still don't believe it. I push her gently, making sure she wasn't a figment of my imagination. She looked awkward and sighed.
"I'm really here John. I'm not a hallucination. I'm not someone in disguise. I'm real." Sonya explained. I didn't say anything, still processing this. "But... How?" I ask.
She shrugs "I can't answer that. I don't even know how." She replies. I look at her again. She looks back at me. It was completely silent until I wrap my arms around her, accidentally picking her up a little, since I was at least a head taller than her. I could tell Jax was smiling a us. I felt her hug me back. I couldn't be happier. Jax went inside. Probably to get Cassie. I pull away from the hug a little and smile down at my ex-wife. She smiles back at me and I do something that probably is really stupid..

I kiss her.

She surprises me by reciprocating the kiss. I heard the door open and two gasps. Then two chuckles.

Cassie and Jax smile at us kissing. We break our embrace so Sonya and Cassie can run into each others arms, happy to be reunited. Cassie had tears of joy in her eyes as she hugs her mom. "Welcome back, General." She says, jokingly. Sonya smiles "It's good to be back, Sergeant." Sonya says, repeating Cassie's joking manner.

Jax's smile fades as he stares into the road "The hell...?" He states. We all look over and see a Revenant.

"That's not possible. Honzo killed Quan Chi... And... Who is that?" Cassie questions. We all stare at the wandering Revenant. It seemed to be a woman. She turned to face us and gasps were heard from all of us.

It was Revenant Sonya.

"Woah woah what the hell??" I say, looking at Sonya.
"Are you even my mom??" Cassie shouts angrily.
"Cass of course I am, I don't know who decided that this would be funny." Sonya explains. Revenant Sonya smirks and sprints towards us. She lands a punch to Cassie's face and she falls down. Revenant Sonya shoots an Energy Ring toward Jax, who blocks it with his metallic arms, shooting it back toward her. She jumps over it and grabs me by my shirt and slams my head into a pole. The world seems to spin out of control before I see all black.

Cassie's PoV

I glare at the Revenant version of my mom and I get up. I punch her in the face and my real mom (I think) punches her in the stomach. This only seemed to aggravate the revenant as she shot another energy ring toward Jax, he was unable to block this time and it knocks him unconscious.

My mom and I continue to battle the powerful revenant as My dad began to wake up. He too joins the battle and soon enough, Revenant mom was unconscious. We all catch our breath and begin to make sense of what had just happened. I look at my mom "Listen woman, are you real or nah?" I ask. Before she could respond, Revenant Mom began to morph. The image in front of us was highly disturbing.

A naked Quan Chi lays before us. I immediately take out my phone and snap a picture.
"Seriously Cass?" My parents say in unison. I ignore them and post the picture, laughing my ass off. I put my phone back and cough awkwardly "Sorry..." My dad throws a tarp over Quan Chi because he looked so... Blah. Before we do anything else, Quan Chi- Along with the tarp- disappear before our eyes. We all look at each other, confused. Jax wakes up and looks around.
"What happened?"

Many hours pass as we sit inside, talking and trying to figure out how Quan Chi is back, and how he was able to take the form of my mom as a revenant.

I eventually fell asleep sometime during the conversation and when I woke up, everyone was gone and I had a blanket over me. I check the time. 2:19am. I get up and look around the house. Jax was still here, asleep on a chair. I go upstairs and open my dad's door quietly. Both of my parents were asleep in the bed. I smile at them and return to the couch where I was sleeping before. I get under the blanket and instantly fall asleep.

The sun rises and it's a beautiful morning. Birds are singing, the sky is a brilliant blue, everyone seems happy. As if the world knows that my mom has returned. I get up and see my dad cooking eggs for all of us. "Morning Sunshine." He greets me.
"Morning Dad." I say. "What did I miss last night?" I ask him.

"We figured that maybe Ermac was able to revive Quan Chi, along with Raiden. Ermac must've held Quan Chi's soul and Raiden has the power to bring him back. We're going after them later today. Now eat up." He explains, handing me a plate of scrambled eggs.

Hours pass and we are prepared to go after Ermac and the others. We pile into my dad's helicopter (yeah he's hella rich) and we fly to the SF HQ and head to the portal. We all enter outworld, ready for a fight.
