THE TREES CREATED AN EMBRYOACTIVE SMELL THAT REALLY ANNOYED VIOLET QUINN. It had been only two hours since they had entered the forest of the Lena River and they were all disdaining the cold that emanated in the air of the Siberian forest. Avery Muller went to the front, watching the snowy pines and how the hot air that came out of his mouth showed in the form of smoke. He walked at a slow pace, enjoying the views he once enjoyed as a child - but not now. Although it was a distortion, when passing a tree he remembered seeing an image of him being a child. Innocent soul, innocent eyes, but all that would be corrupted after all.

His inner child would have traveled the forest from end to end in less than an old man would. Avery remembered the hiding place he had done years ago - very much before becoming a mercenary wanted by SHIELD. For a moment he felt that a version much younger than him was crossing his path, laughing and running towards drift - into a deep abyss that would end up taking him to that very moment. Nothing would be like before.

The sun was slowly hiding among the trees, which obstructed the view of it, also hiding in the mountains. Anika looked back, finding that the only thing that haunted her were her own tracks with snow that somehow left a trace of her location. However, the team knew that at night the tracks would end up being erased by the storm that was rapidly approaching the north of the continent. That meant that the cold would become much more intense - probably fatal for those who don't walk with the necessary equipment since at this time the cold is much greater and a man could die of hypothermia in less than 3 hours.

Avery didn't flinch at that, not even Violet. They went through innumerable winters, one colder than the other - one more lethal than the other. Jake looked to the side of the road, humming quietly so as not to disturb the peace in the group (at least if that was considered peace). The green-eyed mercenary sighed and, as he walked, looked at his watch: it was already seven in the afternoon and the sun was quickly hiding in the mountains. There wasn't much time.

"It's getting dark," Violet declared, watching the sun set. Avery glanced at her to see her brown eyes. "We must find a refuge and spend the night there."

Anika Birkin raised an eyebrow. "Why? I don't think the coconut is going to eat us if we keep walking in the middle of the night."

"The coconut no, silly girl," Avery replied, turning around completely. "But the white wolves will do it if you keep walking. Violet is right."

Jake elbowed his sister and nodded. "Remember, Anika, we follow orders. We have walked for almost three hours and it is getting dark."
