I couldn't believe she said that. What the hell are parents teaching their children these days?!
Mackenzie turned her attention back to the screen as I stood next to her in absolute shock. I gathered myself as quickly as I could. I tried my hardest not to act out of anger and fear.
"Mackenzie, I really need to know what happened to your brother. I really care about you two and it makes me very upset that something could be wrong with him," I said.
Mackenzie continued to furiously press her fingers on the buttons of her Nintendo DS. No matter what I said to her she would not look up at me. I stepped closer and grabbed her by the shoulders and begun to shake her. I started to lose my cool.
At this moment anything that was able to escape from my mouth was screaming. I couldn't control myself any longer.
"MACKENZIE, WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO JAXON?! WHERE THE HELL IS HE?!?"
Her reaction wasn't what I expected. Instead of crying because I was shaking her incredibly hard and cursing her, she laughed. This only escalated my extreme behavior.
"WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING?!" I screamed even louder.
I had to let go. I knew if I didn't soon there would potentially be two children dead. I released my grasp of her and backed away. She continued laughing hysterically bent over in her bean bag chair
I didn't know what to do. Mackenzie obviously wasn't going to tell me what happened to her brother. Should I call Rider? Would that me baby-sitter suicide of me? Most likely. BUT WHAT ELSE CAN I DO. I couldn't call 9-1-1, but Jaxon was missing. He is gone. There was blood everywhere. And the laugh that was coming from Mackenzie's mouth forced me to suspect that SHE had something to do with it
I turned around and walked towards the couch. I grabbed my phone with my bloody hands. The blood that came from shaking Mackenzie started to cover my cell phone. I didn't care. I searched through my contacts until I found the number for Kai. I pressed 'call'.
It was a little later in the in night, and Kai was usually busy, so I prayed that she would pick up. I needed someone to speak some sense.
"Hello?" Kai answered.
"KAI! Something happened," I exclaimed.
"Holy shit, what? What happened?" She asked.
"I can't explain it well over the phone, can you drive over?" I asked.
"Sarah, it's late. You want me to drive over to Mackenzie and Jaxon's?" She asked, with an annoyed tone.
"Yes, I need you. The house address is 25 Walnut Street, PLEASE head over. I NEED you," I pleaded.
"Okay, damn. I'm on my way. I'll be there in about ten minutes," Kai said.
She hung up. I tried to calm myself down to think of a way to explain what happened in a way that wouldn't cause Kai to freak out and be little help to me.
