Chapter 5: Grandads' Lesson

arrator: AB was shocked by what he saw appearbefore him. The sight of the hideous, gigantic mountain she-creature was terrifying. AB stared in awe at her size. This was the mighty she beast of the mountain forest of San Carlos. Appleberry, when he was a child, heard stories of the creature from his grandfather. He recalled an old hunting story his grandfather once told him.

'Karros' Remains.'

GF voice: "It was Karro and I. We were bored. We had nothing to do. So we decided to go hunting deep within the wooded mountains on the western side of San Carlos. We were hoping to find a legendary golden tail Mokinson. The Mokinson was an enchanted beast of beauty. It was rumored to grant powers and knowledge to whoever could catch it alive without harming it. So on this day as we got closer and closer to the mountains. We started noticing a change in the clouds. The clouds had a bluish red and purple hue to them. My first thoughts were that it was getting late, and this was how the mountains looked when the sualt starts to set. But the sualt wasn't setting now. It was shining bright. Sitting high in the sky, almost completely covered by clouds and fog. Karro wanted to turn back. He said that he was having a strange feeling about this one. He was always asking what we would find out here today. I told him to stop being afraid. That it was only the gloomy look of the sky that has him feeling scared. Karro said 'No, It's something more. It's something worst. There's a feeling inside of me that's telling me this is all wrong. Let's turn back now. We can come back tomorrow or come back another day.' So I replied, 'no! We're here now. The fog would make it harder for the Mokinson to see us. Plus, we've come too far to just turn around and go home.' Then we proceeded further into the woody mountains. As we walked Karro was really starting to irk the hell out of me. He was eerie about every sound. He was frightened by every sound of movement that we heard. That's when we heard it a terrifying scream, 'Naaaae!' The sound echoed throughout the mountains. It was frightening all the creatures as they ran passed us terrified by what was coming. Karro took off running back towards the cruiser. I stayed. I had to see where this noise was coming from. I had to see what type of creature shakes the mountains when it roars. I saw the mountain waterfalls and decided to walk towards it. Most believed that the waterfalls were the pits of the undead souls. These souls,have been trying to drown themselves for eternity, but still haven't found the key to releasing their spirits to the heavens. As I walked closer, I could hear the water as it hit the bottom pits. I heard a terrifying noise coming from my left. I turned, and that's when I saw her. It was the mountain she-creature. She was devouring the very golden-tailed Mokinson that Karro and I were hunting. I tried to stay calm. I turned around slowly and started walking away. I even repeated it to myself. 'Just turn around walk away slowly.' I, I must have taken about 3 steps. I don't know, maybe I trickled some leaves. Maybe I stepped on a limb and broke it or something. All I know is the very instance that beast heard a noise, she was on it. She was chasing after me; throwing boulders and trees. She was doing whatever it took to stop me. As I ran, I wasn't trying to look back to see how close she was. I wanted all of my momentum going forward. So I would try to judge the distance by the sounds and roars that she was making. Even that was near impossible to do. This was a beast unlike any other. Her voice echoed throughout the mountains. It sounded as if she was everywhere. I just ran faster, trying to keep my balance as I ran through the wooded mountain forest. When I would stumble, I'd try anything possible not to break my momentum. All while I'm running I could hear the roars of this hideous creature as she got closer. 'Naaae!' She gets closer. Then I hear it again 'Naaae!' Then again, 'Naaae', but this time it's different. The sound is more horrifying. Her hunger for the kill is more intense. It seemed that she was right on my back as I was heading for a steep hill. When I reached the top I could see the top of the cruiser in the distance. I started to yell out to Karro. 'Start the truck now' Meanwhile, I'm still being chased by the remarkable she-beast. I yell out again. 'Karro start the god damn truck!What the fuck are you waiting for?' Finally, Karro heard me. He immediately jumps into the driver seat and start the engine. By the time Karro looked up to see the road,the she-beast was coming straight at him. She hovered over me like I was nothing. She hit the ground and charged full steam ahead as swift as a javisl trying to catch a tussel. I tell you that I have never seen an animal so large with two legs move so fast. I have to admit, sometimes it seemed as if she was running on four legs. Her arms were so big and muscular. They were long. They were almost as long as her legs. Her skin was the same color orange as the mountain rocks. Her eyes were gigantic spheres, blood-shot red. They curved around almost to her ears with large black slits down the middle of them. Her were lips big and fiery red. She wore a red dress that was a mixture of evening wear with a combat suit. She looks like she probably could've been someone's wife. If she wouldn't have gotten all petrified on whatever she's taking that got her out in the mountains eating wild prey and Zeffers. Oh look at me getting off the subject again. Time to time, here and now I do that. But where oh, I remember she headed full of rage and emotions straight at Karro. She turned and let out a mighty scream that sent me flying backwards into the mountain rocks the impact knocked me out for a while. When I regained consciousness I made my way back to the truck. I didn't see Karro. I called out for him. But there was no answer. I started to wonder around and look for him. That's when I noticed the foot print in the ground. I followed them not knowing what I would find but fearing the worst. About a half motate away from the truck, that's where I saw what was left of Karro. His torso was ripped in half and one half was missing." [AB snaps out of daydream mode.].

AB: "Shit!" [AB starts shaking his head and batting his eyes and saying in a whisper.] "I'm sorry grandpa. I hate to cut your story short." [AB speaks louder looking up at the she-beast cautiously.] "This must be that beastly bitch that you were talkingabout." [AB starts inching backwards, always keeping one hand on the Rolly and two eyes on the she-creature.] "Oh, grandpa I have only one more question please."

GF voice: "Anything. Anything my child."

AB: [Looking out the corner of his right eye crouching towards the ground.] "How did you get away from this big bitch?"

GF voice: "Well, after she hovered over me and grabbed Karro in her clutches." [AB interrupts him.]

AB: "Grandpa How!"

GF voice: "I shot at her three times with my old Fairuth friend. One of them, yes indeed did hit right in the back or side. I was aiming to kill her but she managed to dash off with Karro."

AB: "Fairuth friend." [AB looks puzzled.].

GF voice: "The friend I gave you. The ROLLY," hewhispered.
