Adam walks briskly through piles of leaves on the sidewalk. Holding on to his shoes as if it were a ride at an amusement park. Adam was so eager to get to the lab even earlier this time, to make up for being late the day before. In his mind he knew that it would do nothing, but it made him feel accomplished as a successful physicist.

Adam (thinking to himself): Hopefully I can get to the lab without being so late this time...now instead of driving, I'm walking. Instead of having to deal with the broken stoplight, I can easily avoid it. Now, if I am correct, it should take me less time to get to the lab.

As he walked, he finally met up to the point where the accident happened, as well as the broken stoplight. Instead of stopping at the light, he went to the light on the street that was left of this one. He went all the way down to the laboratory and finally got to work early. Except, Kramer was already there...

Adam: Wha-... how did you...huh?

Kramer walks over and closes the door behind him. Then turns to face Adam.

Kramer: Adam, what time is it?

Adam (looks at his watch): 6:30, 45 minutes before work period starts...

Kramer: Now look at my watch.

Adam (looks at Kramer's watch): oh... it's 7:30... the complete opposite of early...

Kramer: Now let's look at this as a learning experience. If you were to not have experienced that crash yesterday, you would have gotten here earlier than you did. If you had noticed that your watch was broken a long time ago, you most likely would have gotten here earlier as well.

Adam: Yes, I understand! I was late, get to the point already...

Kramer: Well, if we complete this machine, then we can see what happens when you are early.

Adam: You mean... we're close?

Kramer: Precisely, we just need that micro-particle acceleration module then we can see if an apple can make it through the door.

Adam: Wonderful! Let's get to work then

After a long period of work, they finally got the shipment of the module and began to attach it to the outer base of the machine.

Kramer: There! Now I just need the rubber ring to seal any kind of molecular leakage...

Adam hands him the ring and then rushes over to the control panel with only one button to push until the gateway to the most astonishing breakthrough in all of human science and history opens to a new world.

Adam: You do realize that if the machine works that could mean that we could get unimaginable amount of credit for our work and dedication. We might get paid way more than $200,000 Kramer!

Kramer: Yes, I understand. Now let me get over there so we can push the button already.

Adam: Okay, let's get to it then.

Kramer hops down from the ladder and takes it down. On his way to the control area, he grabbed the ladder, threw it over to the left, and grabbed his goggles. After he got to the control area he tried to press the button until he was stopped.

Kramer: Uhh... What's wrong?

Adam: Professor, the machine needs to be active, does it not?

Kramer: Yes... of course...

Kramer flips on the power and turns off the power breaker. Finally, the experiment was ready...

Kramer: Ready? Because if you're not that's a problem.

Adam: Yes I'm ready professor. Press the button already!

Both the hands of the two scientist finally slammed the button to switch on the machine. Their eyes were closed... waiting... and waiting... nothing happened.

Kramer: what? It didn't work? ...(sighs) well, we can't expect everything to work the first time off, can we?

Adam: (sighs also) I suppose so...

Kramer went over to the machine and looks at the wiring to make sure it wasn't an electrical problem. Then he moved on to the inside of the machine to look for further errors. Adam, flipping switches to turn off the machine, noticed something as he was doing so. Adam saw that there were two breakers for the circuit. He thought the switch was off so he flicked it up. Suddenly, a spark of electricity flew out of the machine and a great bright light blinded him.

Kramer: Adam! What did you do? Turn it off! Flip the- ...

Silence. There was no more noise as Adam attempted to recollect himself. He got up from the floor to see if his companion had met an untimely demise.

Adam: Professor? Professor Kramer? Hello?

There was no response. He finally walked out from behind the blast shield, to examine the scene. As he walked he saw that the machine was in perfect order and that the professor and the camera they had set up was gone. Although when he looked, there was no residue of any human being. Everything was just gone. If he was eviscerated then there would at least be dust where he might have died. But that did not seem to be the case. Then Adam's eyes lit up like a light bulb in the darkest room imaginable. He took some data recording supplies and shoved them in the machine: an apple pencil sharpener, a pencil, a pen, and a clipboard. Then he went to the control panel and flipped the right switches, making sure that all the breakers were off. Then he finally pressed the button and then the flash came, and after about ten seconds he checked the machine and sure enough they were gone.

Adam: Mother of God! We... We've done it... IT WORKED!! But wait... I still don't know if Kramer is okay, hopefully he sends a sign as soon as possible.
