Hidden Secrets

Chapter 1

It's currently 6:45 am and I have no strength to get up for school today. I thought I would be more excited for my first day of college but I'm just not up for it. I need to hurry up and get ready before Louis gets here, he's never on time to pick me up but today I'm hoping he is.

I decide on wearing something simple. I go with my favorite flannel, ripped jeans, and sandals. I apply light makeup not really caring on what I look like and I keep my hair down. I hate my hair because of how straight it is, I can never do anything with it.

It's 7:20 by the time I'm done getting ready and that gives Louis 10 minutes to get here and take me to my first class.While I wait I decide to make some coffee for Louis and I.

When I go to the kitchen the front door clicks open, Louis voice follows through the room and a smile creeps upon my face.

"Good morning love are you ready for your first day" he says with a smirk.

My stomach feels a little uneasy thinking about it but I put on a fake smile for my best friend.

"Of course"

Louis look at me with questioning eyes "I know when you're lying Sophie, tell me what's on your mind" he says while grabbing the cup of coffee I made for him and my school bag before heading out.

"I don't know I just wish I had family to support me, I need people to be here and maybe if I had that I would have more motivation"

I avoid his eye contact when we pull in front of UCLA. I unbuckle my seat belt and lean to grab the door handle but Louis quickly grabs my arm before I get out of the car.

"I love you and good luck" he assures me, I give him a small but noticeable smile and get out to head towards the front office. Louis waits until I'm inside the building before he drives off.

Once I'm inside there's this girl screaming at the office lady about a dorm room. I roll my eyes at how dramatic she's being. The office lady notices my presence and holds her finger up to the screaming girl. Her face flashes with relief when she walks over to me.

"Hi, how may I help you?"

" Yes it's my first day and when I read the school pamphlet it said I can get a campus tour? And I also need my schedule." I take a glance at her name tag and it reads Patience.

She gives me a nod and reaches for the phone telling someone to report to the front office.

"May I have your name please?" she tells me holding her hand over the speaker on the phone.

"Sophie Goodwin"

She tells that to the person on the line before hanging up. "Here's your schedule darling and a map of the school, your campus tour guide will be here shortly". She smiles at me before going back to the girl from earlier who is now surprisingly calm.

Just as I'm about to take a seat a guy walks through the door.

"Patience, I'm here for the touring" he says, she gestures her hand towards me and he glances my way.

I walk over and greet him "Hi, I'm Sophie" I hold my hand out for him to shake and he quickly reaches out for it.

"Hi, I'm Zayn Malik" he says while opening the door for me.

Louis P.O.V
As I drive down the road towards Sophie's apartment, thoughts start flooding through my mind and I hope her first day goes well.

I understand why she is not looking forward for college. It's such a big and important step in her life. The fact that she has no family to support her right now only makes me want to be there for her more.

I'm all that she has left and I will do everything I can to keep her happy. I open the door to her apartment thinking of what I can do to see the smile on her face that I've grown to miss.

I remember her smile like it was just yesterday, when we were kids just playing in the back yard and I hate how it disappeared as we got older and things started to get hard. As I'm looking through her fridge an idea pops in my head. I'm going to make Sophie her favorite meal.
