"Wait, WHAT?"

I took some time to process exactly what he said. Yes, I'm pretty smart but this was just un-freaking-believable.  When it sank in though, I couldn't stop myself from bursting.

"You're breaking up with me on my birthday?! After buying me this necklace, taking me out to dinner and making out with me?" I couldn't believe my ears. We had been together for three and a half years and to say I was heartbroken was an understatement. I was speechless, and that hardly ever happens.

"Yeah. You're hot and all, but you are totally crazy dude, I thought I could deal with it, but I can't, you freak me out sometimes. You do pretty much everything soundlessly. Even if you're running in heels, you don't make a sound. And you're so sarcastic I can never tell when you aren't. You're always so unemotional. I don't know that you're angry at me until I wake up a week later, naked, drugged and tied to my car. I mean, look, underneath all that crazy, there's an amazing chick. Smart, talented,  sen-"

"Just shut up. You're unbelievable. And you're crazy if you think I'm going to cry over you." I said while standing up. Sure, I don't express much, but I really thought he loved me.

"Have a great life, asshole!" I shouted as I left the restaurant.

Great. It's raining. I sighed and speed walked down the sidewalk, avoiding as many puddles as I could. My main goal was getting home right now, but none of the cabs seemed to want to co-operate.

"Fuck it, I'll walk." I mumbled to myself as I began the four block journey to my apartment.

About halfway there, as I passed yet another fancy restaurant and asked myself why my boyf- ex didn't pick a restaurant closer to my place, when a huge black car pulled up to the sidewalk and into the biggest puddle in sight, spilling dirty gutter rainwater all over me .

Great!

I walked around to the driver's door and tapped on the window as calmly as I could at that point . As it opened, I tried to calm myself further.

"Can I help you, Miss?" said a harsh faced blonde man with aviator sunglasses on. At 7 freaking PM.

"Yes. You can tell me how on earth you managed to park so recklessly." I said as calmly as possible.

"I don't see anything wrong with how I've parked."

"I don't know hun, maybe the fact that you've SPILT THE WHOLE SIDEWALK ALL OVER ME!"

" Mam, I'm sorry fo-"

"How do you plan on fixing this?"
I got no reply from him, he just stared.

Just as I was about to comment on his stupidity, the back door  of the car opened and a man stepped out. He was wearing a tailored black suit, and I was asking myself just who he was when he turned around.

If I wasn't as angry as I was at that point, I might have been speechless. He had jet black hair and the most captivating brown eyes, the kind that most people would kill for. They were the colour of honey, with a darker rim around the edges of his ireses. His eyes were captivating, but at that moment, they weren't friendly eyes. His gaze was steady and unwavering. His jawline was well defined and his shoulders were broad and masculine. He carried himself as if he were royalty, and he looked the part.

'My goodness he's gorgeous ,' my subconscious muttered.
'Thanks for stating the obvious ,' I replied.

"Excuse me Mam, but what do you think you're doing?" When he spoke, my heart fluttered. No, it was less romantic than that, it was more like a fish flapping around for air after being pulled out of water.
