Chapter Five: October

I looked at the black eyed dog, who’s name was Blackie. You see there’s something I haven’t said yet… I could speak to animals. Don’t believe me I don’t sometimes either. But I’ve tested it several times. You see I could speak to them in my head. I told my mother about ready for her to send me to a crazy house but she didn’t she smiled and looked up saying thank you Diana. She told me that it was apart of our families gifts. One of many I would receive.

So yeah I could talk to animals. They were my only real friends. The ones I could trust with everything I mean who are they going to tell? Right? Anyway I started talking to Blackie to see in human years he was three. Had, had a mate but sadly she died a few years ago. He said my eyes made him think of her spirit, wild and free. Like a rainbow.

I just smiled at him feeling sad for him. Trying to comfort him but he would have none of it saying that he had done his morning and he was gone weeping over the past. I smiled at him for that. “Are you okay? You keep looking at that dog like, your having a conversation with it.”  Fisher said. I sighed and turned to him saying “How can I talk to a dog with first out moving my mouth second he have to understand me, right?”

He just smiled at me and nodded his head. That’s when someone walked in. “Welcome.” I said trying to see who it was. Was shocked to it was James.  I grinned at him, last night we talked on the phone for hours just about random things. He grinned back and said to me. “Well isn’t it lady knight who sledded the blond hair dragon!” I giggled at that. It was going that a lot calling me the lady knight.

I just stuck my tongue out at him like I was five.  He did the same thing back. I heard a growl and turned to it thinking it was one of the dog to see it was Fisher. I was shocked at that I had never seen someone growl before maybe a dog but not a person. It was very strange.

Any way I turned back towards James to see him glaring at Fisher. I was confused then it hit me they were complete opposites of course they would hate each other. But what they were talking about confused me to no end. “What are you doing here?” James asked or more like demand from Fisher. Fisher just smirked like it was so funny that James was getting angry. “I work here… Duh?” Fisher said. He made it sound like a question that was odd.

James just glared at him and then looked at me with a grin on his face. “So after you get off work I thought we could celebrate your job by going out to eat my treat!” Before I could answer Fisher answered for me. “That’s great where are we all going to go out to eat?” I couldn’t help but laugh at that. They both looked at me and smiled.  Okay they were kind of creepy. I just laughed an awkward and went to take care of the cats.

One of the cats named Marty was trying to tell the other cats that the big blonde guy was a dog or something. Anyway he said that if we weren’t careful we all be lunch meat. I laughed. You could tell this cat was a mad one I bet it was beaten a little too much. Poor thing, I wish I could have help him. But sadly he had gone to fare to be saved.

I walked back to see James was gone. When I asked Fisher where he went he said that he had other stuff to do and he be here later. Fisher growled the last part. It was strange to me that he growled but I ignored it when I shouldn’t have.
