Timberwolf swiftly ran through the forest, dodging the birch trees as she chased her prey. The great light-gray wolf finally jumped and bit the cat. She held her right grip until the light brown tabby stopped twitching. Timberwolf loosened her harsh grip and carried it to her cave. There, laying next to a fire pit, was a boy in ragged clothes and messy blonde hair. His dull green eyes stood out brightly in the evening light.
"Timberwolf! You got me food!" the boy smiled excitedly as he sat up.
"I knew you wanted some cat meat. So I wanted to surprise my spirit master!" Timberwolf said cheerfully as she prepared the dead cat. The boy patiently waited as Timberwolf prepared the meat.
"Oh yeah, Kiloton, I also got you some herbs for your cold." Timberwolf said as she served him the meat.
"Timberwolf! I could've done it! I'm 9! I can do anything!" Kiloton said proudly as he stuffed his face with food. Timberwolf rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Just keep believing that!" she patted his head and curled up next to him as he ate. Soon enough, she started dozing off.
"Aww! Bed time already?" Kiloton whined. Timberwolf tiredly nodded and closed her eyes. He sighed and went into the the jewel of a key that was tied around her neck. That morning, when Timberwolf awoke, she saw Kiloton walking about on the frosted grass.
"Kiloton, are you ready for our morning run?" Kiloton nodded excitedly and burst into the woods. Timberwolf grew long and sharp claws and bounced off of trees to keep up to Kiloton as he ran fast. Their breaths clouded the cold crisp late-fall air. The sun shone through the few leaves that were still on the trees. They got to a rushing river and stopped to rest. Kiloton took a few drinks and rested his head on Timberwolf.
"Timber, isn't this where my parents drowned?" Kiloton looked at the cold water.
"Yes." Timberwolf sighed and watched the raging waters.
