Celeste woke up, warm in her bed, rubbing her eyes. She could sense that her temperature had reduced. She looked around, to see if her best friend stayed over for the night or did she return back. She saw Sylvia deeply asleep, clasping her hand beside her, and had left a pool of drool on it. A lean ray of the sun, which was ocre yellow, made her hair's colour look lighter. Celeste didn't even move a hair, she didn't want to disturb Sylvia, she knew she was exhausted searching for medicines the previous night. She kissed her forehead in pure gratitude.
It wasn't that late when Sylvia woke up with a pinch of laziness inside her. "Breakfast! Hot damn, I'm so sorry Celes..." Sylvia's voice faded when she didn't see Celeste beside her on the bed. She stared at the bed thinking where could she be and before she could begin searching for Celeste, Celeste's voice came from the kitchen, " I've already prepared it, sweetheart, could you help me lay the table, please?"
"Why did you make breakfast when you were unwell, what am I here for?" Sylvia complained as she took the bowl of salad from Celeste's hand.
"You are here to take care, and to be taken care of. You neglected the heavy downpours and still went out to get me medicines, can't I get out of bed and make breakfast?" Celeste said as she sat on the table with Sylvia, applying peanut butter on bread.
"Ok fair-gamer, I lose. Lunch is on me, though." Sylvia said munching on a crisp piece of sliced cucumber.
"Jeez! Lunch! I was supposed to be meeting stegin today for lunch! What am I gonna do?" Sylvia yelled in her mind as she choked on the food in her mouth.
"Can you please not think about stuff while eating at least?" Celeste said while she handed over a glass of water to her.
"Ahem ahem! Yeah, Celeste, I had to ask you something?" Sylvia said peeping through the glass of water.
"Sure?"
"Uhmm, I had some work this afternoon.."
"Go."
"Are you serious? Don't be mad at me, I had to meet a friend today, tell me you will take care until I return?"
"Yes, I will! Now go get ready, it's already 11!" Celeste shouted politely as she took a bite of the bread.
"You are my dearest friend! I am surely making you the best dinner!" Sylvia kissed Celeste's soft and fair cheeks and rushed to bathe.
After two hours, Sylvia showed up again, in a black long piece with a silver long chain and hair neatly made up to a bun.
"What on earth took you so long?" Celeste asked , with her head under her pillow.
"An hour to bathe and another to dress. Okhay now, how do you think I look?" Sylvia asked with mischievous innocence.
Celeste threw the pillow to the other side and slowly turned around with eons of lethargy.
"Pathetic, unbelievably pathetic." She said without blinking.
"Il take that as a compliment." Sylvia said looking down and correcting her dress.
"If sarcasm was the highest wit, you would be the cutest fool, you look gorgeous!" Celeste said giving her a flying kiss.
Sylvia pit on her heels, gave back a sweeter flying kiss and rushed out.
-
The taxi stopped near Taco bell. Sylvia paid the driver, got down, and looked up to the sky for some seconds. It was the first time she was meeting a guy, the first time, she would spend time with one. A wave of nervousness came upon her, but her unconditional connection for that handsome guy conquered.
She went inside, looking down, closing her eyes for sometime and then looked up, around herself.
He stood up, had the warmest smile, charisma in his eyes. Sylvia smiled back. She went v to him slowly, clasping the chain of her sling bag tightly. He sat after she did.
"I'm glad you trust me." Stag said with twinkling eyes.
"Thank me with cherishable gestures." Sylvia said avoiding eye contact.
"Look at me, why don't you?" Stag said with a serious tone.
"Stegin, I fear eye contacts. I fear the reflection I could see there." Sylvia said circling her finger around the brim of the glass of water that was near her.
"Stag, call me Stag. Okhay, I understand you, but promise me one thing?"
"State it?"
" You will tell me about everything that you feel. Your fears that itch, pleasures that soothe, future that awaits, and the past that lingers. Everything. Do you trust me on that?" Stag said reaching up to her hands.
"I had the best first impression with you. I clicked. I don't believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in the clicks. I trust my instances. And the most instant feeling that conquered my whole soul and material, without leaving a trace of doubt, was you." Sylvia said, slowly forwarding her hand and touching his cheek.
"When I saw you last night, I knew. I knew that I had a lover to love under the full moon, and a friend to smile with under the dazzling Sun. What I found in you was not something wild to tame, but something wild to run with." Stag said placing his hand over her hand, on his cheek.
They blissfully ate, it was the time of their lives. He paid , stood up, and went up to Sylvia, stretching his hands out to her.
"Il drop you home." He said , intertwining his fingers with hers and walking towards the parking.
"No, I will take a taxi, my friend wouldn't like me with a guy I never told her about.
"Il meet her with you." Stag said with a smile.
"Next time maybe, catch me a taxi if you could?"
"Definitely!"
While they were walking towards the main street, Stag looked at Sylvia and said,
"Continue to share your heart with people even if it has been broken. Don't treat your heart like an action figure wrapped in plastic and never used.
You can kiss your family and friends good-bye and put miles between you, but at the same time, you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world, but a world lives in you. "
Sylvia had moist eyes, a soft smile struggled through it. She said , "Aren't we like two volumes of the same book? It's just that , every book describes a love story that was confessed, and our's is an untold one."
Stag complimented her words through his hand that held her hand tighter. They knew, this was a latch whose key was never made.
Stag called the taxi, made her sit and was just about to leave when Sylvia beckoned
"Stag?"
"Yes?"
"Never mind"
"What was it?"
"I just wanted to be sure of you."
Stag smiled and left.
-
"How was your lunch?" Celeste Asked while she sipped onto a mug of hot chocolate.
"You like the guy, don't you?" She added.
Sylvia was awestruck.
"How did you know it was a guy? You stalk?" Sylvia chuckled.
"Your expressions and your eyes say you had a wonderful time, I guessed it could be a guy. No one becomes this brave without a motivation. Dare you hide things from me again! Even if you do, I will get to know them." Celeste said.
"I'm sorry, I know a little too much about me" Sylvia said pouncing onto the couch.
Both laughed out loud.
Celeste then said,"Whatever our souls are made up of, yours and mine are the same."
