Part 2
Again he was gone. I was still in the forest when I had woken, the trees were rustling in the chilly breeze, the stars were shining bright and there was a full moon out. I hunched over trying, it was so terribly cold. I to figure out were I was.
Toby had said I was not safe. That "she" will hurt me". Who was this -A anyway. I saw headlights light up the trees and I headed towards that direction. I stumbled over the logs in the pitch black. Leaves crunched under my feet under K was standing on the side of a road. There was my car, head lights on and running. I quickly ran to it flinging myself inside and grabbing the spare blanket off the back seat. I sat there shivering like crazy when I noticed on my dash board a note. It read "Hey Spence, did Toby really think he could keep you safe? How can he now though considering I've got him safe from you. -A"
"STUPID BITCH" I screamed at the top of my lungs and hit my head against the dash board. The pain felt better. But considering it was a school night I had to drive home.
The next day at school was a mess. I couldn't concentrate on the work and got worried looks from everyone when I answered something wrong. I mean seriously do they expect me to be that little smarty pants or something 'cause I ain't. At lunch on the oval all the girls (aria, Hanna, mona and Emily) were talking about the school dance coming up but I couldn't enjoy it. They would say "So what are you panning to wear?" And all look at me waiting for a answer. I would sigh and start picking blades of green grass out with my fingers then reply "We'll I probably aren't going to come" advoiding eye contact. This got the biggest gasp out of mona of course "WHAT?! Spencer! No, you can't just miss out on this like we gotta shop for you!"
"I'm sorry it's just I don't feel like I'm up for it"
"I don't even care how you feel, you are coming whether you like it or not!" Mona shouted. She got upset by these things so easily.
"Make me!" I half yelled while propping myself up from the grass and starting brushing the grass off me.
"I don't make bitches, I train them" She sighed angrily taking. Step closer and staring at me right in the eyes, we were about 2 feet away from each other now.
Aria, Emily and Hanna looked at each other awkwardly not sure if they should come into the argument or not. Emily fiddled with her ray bans, Aria inspected her straw cowboy hat and Hanna nibbled at her LCM bar.
"We'll maybe you should train your self" I yelled and I struck her across the face.
Monas eyes were blazing and starting to water. I wasn't sure if the tears that started coming down were from what I had just did or frustration. Mona clutched her cheek in shock. She ran, all the way to the bathrooms about 60 feet away. Aria, Emily and Hanna all were standing up as well by then. They looked upset and confused. They weren't sure if they should go after Mona or stay with me. But most of all they look at me like I was a stranger.
So I made it easy for them I ran as fast as my legs could carry me in the platformed high heels. The tears were coming down as soon as I got to the back of the school. I sat down next to the green dumpster sobbing. I couldn't breathe as I gasped for air through my sobs. There were running footsteps and I could hear my name being called so I squished up against the wall harder and held my breathe. But Hanna had found me. For a second she should there just staring and me and then her nose wrinkled up when she noticed the bins. She came over anyway. Her strapless peach dress fluttered in the wind and she squatted down. I tried not to make eye contact with her as I tried to stiffen my sobs but she reached out her hand and tilted my chin up her her, "Spencer, you must be going through a lot right now and it must be so stressful but Mona didn't deserve that, I know she can be a handful but no one deserves to be treated like that" Hanna sighed.
I could feel her blue eyes burning into mine so I looked at her. Her face didn't show anger just hurt.
"Toby has been missing for almost 1 week now" I replied.
She helped me up and we both walked to the car park.
"If you want we can skip 5th period" she studied my tear stained cheeks.
"No it's ok you stay I'm going to go home" I said forcing a smile like always.
She reached out and held my hands in hers "Ring me if you need anything".
"Ok." I said climbing into the car.
I watched Hannas face out of the rear view window, it was relieved. My GPS said "turn right here" and I stared at it. It was leading me to Wright playground. My mobile went BING and I stared at the new text message from -A. "I know what you want so come play hide and seek, you're it -A".
I moaned and started to speed towards the play ground.
I leapt out of the car when I arrived, it was midday and the sun shone through the trees onto the rusty metal swings. Dead leaves scattered the ground and the grass hasn't been mowed in years. Something dry crunched and I whined around. There was a black hoodie standing behind a tree. Slowly they approached, there was 2 of them both wearing black hoodies and one holding Toby. His head was pulled back as the hoodie held onto his acorn coloured hair tightly so his back was bent, if he tried to escape he would break his neck. Toby whimpered through the black piece of clothing tied around his mouth.
"TOBY!" I screamed running at the second hoodie. Quickly it drew out a pocket knife and held it to Toby's pale neck.
The other hoodie stood still guarding Toby but watching me carefully ready to jump.
My eyes darted from hoodie to hoodie, my breathing quicken and I could see Toby's eyes begging me to run.
There was a shadow cast over both the hoodies faces and they were to far away to get a proper look.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!?", I screamed with my eyes welling up, my fists were clenched shut.
The first hoodie did a quick step towards me and took a step back. It slowly raised its gloved hand and gestured me to come forward. I took a shaky step forward as the leaves crunched under my weight. It kept signalling me forward until it faced its palm to me in a stop position. My heart felt like it was going to leap out on my chest. The hoodie quickly crouched down and slung a piece of rope over its shoulder. I had never noticed the old, tattered rope disguised in the brown leaves.
"No, please don't", I begged realising what the rope was for.
It dragged the rope over quickly carrying leaves on the rope.
I could here the hoodies quick breathing as it neared almost as if it was nervous. It touched my head and pushed it down so I was looking at the ground. Slowly it went behind me and started to wrap the rope around my hands. I glanced up at Keegan, he was watching me and slowly blinked. It was our way of saying "I love you". I did it back before the hoodie pushed my head back down again.
I could here the hoodies breathing right behind my ear, it was leaning closer to me.
"I'm so sorry", it whispered in anger but sorrow.
I gasped when I recognised the voice. My head spun around with my gaping mouth looking straight into the hoodie.
