The last thing Mai remembered was asking the villagers if they knew anything about the grudge the foxes have against the village. When she woke up, she was in the woods but it looked different. "Misaki?? Ayano??? Anyone???" "Mai!!! You're here too??!!", Ayano said surprised. "If you're here then Misaki must be as well.", Mai said. "We need to find her." "Looking for me??", Misaki said, suprising them. "Gasp!! Misaki!!", both girls exclaimed. "So does anyone have any ideas about where we are?", Misaki asked. "Well..I think we are in the past. If you take a close look at the woods they look more inviting than when first got here.", Mai says. Then the girls heard the snapping of branches. They looked at each other and walked in the direction they heard the noise. After they walked for a while, they came too a small clearing and what they saw shocked them. The grass was stained with fresh blood and there were multiple footprints. Then they saw small, child-like footprints in the blood and leading away from it. They followed the footprints and came to a well-hidden door in the ground. When thay opened it, they saw nothing but darkness. Then all of a sudden the scene changed. "What the- what's going on!!??", Misaki asked. "I don't know!! I can't see anything!!!", Ayano exclaimed. "Wait...where's Mai??" "Huh? I don't know." The girls started shouting for Mai, but she wouldn't answer. Then the floor or ground gave out and the girls screamed as they fell. They woke up dripping with sweat. "Are you two alright?", John asked. Everyone looked at them, worried. "We're fine. Where's Mai??", Ayano asks. "She's outside with Naru.", Monk says. The two girls leave the room and go outside. "Oh good your awake. I was worried.", Mai says, looking relieved. "Now we can discuss what you saw.", Naru said. And they all told him what they saw. "I believe we need to explore the woods. Perhaps then we will understand what your vision means.", Naru says. He raises his hands to his chin and arches his eyebrows, signaling that he is in deep thought. "Mai, tell the others that we will be exploring the forest soon." "Hai!" "You two come with me." They looked at each other then back at Naru. "H-hai." Mai went into the room where everyone was at. "So did you tell Naru what you saw? Was it anything useful??", Ino asked. "Yes I told him but I don't know if it was very useful. He said that all of us are going to explore the woods. Maybe we will find something that could help solve this case." Naru, Misaki, and Ayano went to talk with the villagers. "We think we may have an idea that could help us solve this case.", Ayano said. "We are going to search the woods for clues and maybe rescue the captive students. We would like some of the villagers to come with us.", Misaki said. "Y-you want us to come with you!!?? To the Woods!!??", a villager exclaimed, shocked. "Yes I do. Maybe if some villagers come with us, then when we solve this case, the deities will pardon the villagers for whatever crime you did 12 years ago.", Naru says calmly. The villagers thought about it for a minute then said, "Fine, but only a few of us adults will go, along with the student council." "That's good enough.", Naru said. "Gather every adult that is coming with us at the school court yard. We will meet up with you and the student council in 10 minutes." "O-ok, t-then we'll be there soon.", said a tall woman with grayish hair. "A few medics will come as well, just in case something happens and someone gets hurt." "Thats fine.", Naru said, slightly eager to search the woods but not showing it. Then Naru, and the two girls walk back to the council building. Misaki and Ayano get there first. "Mai, get everyone rounded up! We are meeting up with some adults and medics from the village at the school court yard.", Ayano said. "Sure Ayano-nee-chan.", Mai said brightly. 'Since when does she call me Ayano-nee-chan?' They all go the school court yard and met up with 20 adults and 5 medics. After that, they all went into the woods. When the entered the woods, almost all the light was cut off from the outside. "Ugh! It's so dark in here I almost tripped!", exclaimed one of the medics. When they got a little deeper into the woods, Mai, Ayano, and Misaki recognised where they were and started to lead the group effortlessly through the woods to the area they believe to be the bloodied clearing they saw in their vision. When they got there, they saw it was a bit different from what they had seen. "Those stones...", Ayano said, her words dying out. "Mm...they look like gravestones.", Mai said. There were two big stones placed in the center of the clearing, a patch of long-dead grass around it. They decided to go in the direction the child-like footprints were in, in their vision. "Look....there it is!", Misaki exclaimed, the first to spot the hidden door. "Where?!", both Mai and Ayano questioned. "Over there, see? Right under those bushes and just at the top of the hill." They found the door and tried to oped it like in their vision, but it was stuck. "Hey, Naru look. There is a cliff at edge of the next hill.", Monk said. "Lets check it out.", John and Neji exclaimed. When they reached the cliff, they saw a jagged edge, as if the cliff broke apart. "I wonder what happened here?", an adult asked. They went back to the door in the ground and tried to open it again. After a while, they managed to get it open, and they heard voices from indide. "We have to these chains off somehow!! Ugh!!! I just can't wait to get out of this place." "Ugh! Will you just calm down, Tema? Troublesome woman." "Temari!! Shikamaru!!", Ino shouted. "Wha- Ino? Is that you?", Temari asked. "Yea, were all here with the people who were called in to help and a few of the adults and medics from the village." "Hang on. We'll get ya out of there.", Sakura said. "Where are Ten-ten and Choji?", Neji asked. "They are here but asleep. They were nocked out by whatever that female fox did to them.", Tema said. Neji sadly looked at Ten-ten who was laying on the ground chained up to the wall. They freed Shikamaru first, as he was the closest to them. "Oi, Shika hurry up and free me!!" "Ahhh! Just be quite already will ya? What a drag..."Shika said as he freed Tema, then Ten-ten and Choji. After they freed the 4 council members, they went back to the cliff to examine it more closely. Why was the edge so jagged and broken? Why did the fox deities sound so angry and frustrated and hurt? What happened here 12 years ago in this mysterious forest?
