Eira

I slowly walk to the lunch room with my lunchbox in hand. I take a seat in the corner of the room, alone from the rest of the room. As I pull out my headphones and put them on, Boston comes over and sits down next to me. I don't acknowledge him at first, hoping he will leave me alone, but then he reaches over and pulls hard on my headphones making them come out of my ears.

"Hey!" I exclaim, "I was in the middle of my favorite Imagine Dragons song!"

His eyes widen, "You like them too?"

"Heck yeah! They are amazing. I love their music."

"Favorite song?"

"Too hard to pick. Yours?"

"Probably Polaroid or Smoke and Mirrors."

I nod my head, agreeing with his song choice, "Good choices, both from their new album."

"I like that album a lot. But Night Visions is still amazing."

I nod again, and take out some goldfish and offer some to him. "You do know by sitting with me, you're committing Social Suicide, right?"

"Who cares? Why should I let those three drama queens dictate my life?"

I smile softly, "True, but they are the queens of the school. They can make your friends hate you."

"Then they aren't my friends."

Then the girl with crutches, the same one since second grade comes rushing over to us. "Boston, Eira, we have to leave right now. You guys are in danger."

We both scan the lunchroom for immediate threats and came up empty.

"What are you talking about?" Boston asks

"I can't explain right now but we have to leave. Before it finds you."

"What finds us? If you tell us we will go with you." He continues on and tries to reason with her, but she doesn't say. She keeps repeating something is after us and we are not safe.

Suddenly the new chemistry teacher walks over to our table.

"I need you two to come with me. You missed a test this morning and you need to make it up now." He states.

Lynn, the girl with the crutches, gives us a wiry look with eyes begging us not to go. I look to Boston to only observe him looking back and forth between Lynn and Mr. Dan. Then he shakes his head no.

"I'm sorry sir, but we have to eat lunch. We cannot go with you now. Perhaps later." He stated with his head held high. Mr. Dan did not like that answer. His eyes seemed to be replaced by fire. Mr. Ryan then began to grow in size. Tattoos seemed to appear magically on his skin. His teeth turned pointy and yellow. It was the strangest thing I've ever seen. Lynn started to shake and yelled at us to follow her. But I was frozen where I stood. I've seen a lot of crazy things in my life, living with the Avengers and training with the, but this was new. Suddenly I was jerked by my arm. I call out in surprise only to realize Boston was pulling me away from the thing in front of us. I quickly look around to see if anyone else was running away, but everyone was just eating like nothing was happening.

I regain my footing as we ran towards to exit. Mr. Ryan, or whatever he is, was right on our trail. He was smashing throw the walkways destroying the ground underneath.

"What is that?" I yell towards Lynn.

"Laestrygonians. Annabeth calls them Canadians though! There's going to be more, we need to hurry to camp!" She yells back at me as she leads us outside and to a van waiting for us.

"How do we know you're not a monster too?" Boston questions her.

"Because I'm your protector! Now get in the car! Argus will drive us to camp. I called ahead!" And with that, we climbed into the creepy white van with writing on the side.

We barely had time to close the door as he sped up and didn't stop driving.

After a few hours of driving away from the monster things, we arrived at a hill with a big pine tree in front.

"We are here! Quick let's get inside." She said as she climbed but the hill.

"Get inside where?" Boston surveyed the hill.

"Just past the tree! That's the boundary! Come on! They're coming!" She shouted towards us.

We quickly climbed the hill. Just before we passed by the tree, I hear a bone-chilling sound. Then a scream. I turn around only to see this huge monster, green and ugly girl thing, with Lynn in her disgusting hands. This monster had snakes on her head like hair and green skin that looked a lot like a snake. She might be part dragon too because she has giant wings on her back.

Boston is already on the other side of the tree by this point. I have to save her. I can't leave someone to die. I guess it's the Avengers morals rubbing off on me.

I pick up the closest big rock near me and toss it right at the ugly monster's head. "Hey, you! Let my friend go!"

"Eira no! Cross the line! You'll be safe!" Lynn yells at me, only to have the monster's grip grow stronger.

"Shut it goat! You will be deliciousss. Now, child, you can join uss for dinner." The she-monster started coming closer. By this point, I was clear out of options. I know that I can't kill her with rocks or what I've learned from Natasha. I see out of the corner of my eye that Boston was trying to get someone to come help, but no one was coming. Then I see a small dull sparkle, a 4-foot sword was lying about 5 feet from me covered by leafs almost out of sight. I rush over to it and pick it up. It was slightly heavy but not too bad. I didn't have time to assess it any longer because the monster started to charge at me.

Now I've never learned a darn thing about sword fighting in my whole life. I have practiced using guns, bow and arrows, Steve's shield, and a random hammer, but never a sword. But thankfully I learned quickly and I swung it at the monster. It then hissed at me as I hit its arm causing her to drop Lynn.

"Lynn! Get out of here! Go get Boston and you to safety" I yell getting into a fighting stance. Thankfully, Lynn does what I ask and runs across the border. "Come and get some snake-head."

It hissed again, "I am no ordinary ssnake! I am a Kampe! You will die at my hand!"

"I'm good, thank you, though!" I shout at her as she cracks her whip (that happens to be on fire and appeared randomly) at me. I quickly roll to the side dodging it.

I quickly stand up again and move closer to get a good hit. I aim to hit her in the heart when she tears through the skin on my shoulder. My eye instantly starts to water from the pain. Her whip is back in her hand and she brings it down hard on my back. I cry out and fall to her feet, my sword still in my hand. I try to stand but can't. I try to lift my sword arm, which is a very painful process, and I stab her right through the stomach with the last bit of my strength. That must of killed her because the last thing I see is a bunch of dust settle around me and a sword fall in front of me.

Sorry that it is so short. The Avenger's are going to be more involved I promise, and Percy and Annabeth and the rest of the crew! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Have a great day! Please vote or comment your thoughts!
