I still remember when I first met him. It was one month after I had been into the psych ward and I had gotten lost.

I was only briefly acquainted with Lindsay. Me and Lydia weren't on speaking terms. So to put it lightly, I was screwed.

" Damn it! " I had been walking from corridor to corridor in circle for at least an hour.

I remember saying, " I'm gonna get in so much trouble for this."

A pale hand placed itself on my shoulder, catching me off guard.

Some really tall guy with dark red hair and sunglasses was smirking down at me.

His deep baritone voice shocked me. " Do you need some help, sweetheart?"

I might have zoned out for a really long time because he snapped his fingers in front of my face.

If my skin tone was any different I'm pretty sure you would have seen me blushing.

" Oh sorry, I sorta blanked for a second, I'd actually love some help finding out where the main lobby is."

" No problem, I was just heading there anyway." He chuckled. He also placed his hand on my lower back.

I'm not lying when I say I almost passed out on the way there. I'm also not lying when I say I think he pressed up against me a lot closer than he had to.

Not that I was complaining.

I was really disappointed when we finally made it there. He was just so nice! The entire way there he cracked jokes that made me smile. I haven't smiled in years let alone smile that big.

" Well here is our stop, little lady. Hopefully my crappy jokes didn't kill you on the way here." He smirked. I noticed he didn't smile not once while we were talking.

I shrugged it off, because before today, I never really smiled a lot either.

Even though he didn't smile he still seemed really genuine with his kindness. How can someone like him get put into a mental facility?

" Well, thank you for helping me find it! I don't think I told you yet but my names Maya. " I purposely left out my last name.

It was psych ward protocol to never tell anyone your last name so you won't contact each other outside the facility.

If you did, there's so supposed to be "major" consequences.

He stopped smirking. Alarmed I did something wrong I tried to apologize.

" I'm sorry, did I do something wro--?"

Slap!

Surprised, I place my hand on my cheek. The pain from the slap hurt so bad a few stray tears fell from my eyes.

Looking up at him, his face was still in the same expression. Stoic as ever.

" What's wrong with you? Do you just slap people for the fun of it? I thought you were normal!" I screamed, the realization dawning on me that I was just assaulted.

Then something weird happened. He smiled at me.

A real true smile with teeth showing and everything.

" I'm sorry, Maya. I have to go." And then he left.

I didn't see him for weeks after that. After he hit me, I reported to the main desk then went straight to my room.

Lindsay was the only I told about what had happened. She was terrified when I described what he looked like.

She told me who he was and what he was and that I needed to stay away.

But there was just something about the red headed boy with the evil smile that made me want to know more.
