-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up and put my hands on my face, trying to erase the memory. I sat up and was startled by my brother, who was sitting on the edge of my bed. “Can I help you?” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

“I wanted to apologize...” He said, looking down.

“No, you didn’t,” I said. “Mom made you, or dad. YOU wouldn’t ever want to apologize, especially to me.”

“But... I am really sorry,” He said, his face getting red. “I was a jerk...”

“You’re always a jerk!” I cried. “You hate me because of my scar! You hate that it brings down your Popularity scale because I’m a freak!” I hid my face, I didn’t want him to see me cry. I guess it didn’t matter because when I looked up, he was crying too.

“I didn’t know you felt that way,” He said, obviously, he was honestly sorry... And I felt bad for yelling at him.

“Alex... I... I’m sorry..” I started to say, but he cut me off with a hug.

“Don’t say anything... It’s okay... You’re right, I’m an ass,” he said through his tears.

I just nodded and buried my head in his chest, I didn’t want to argue with him anymore.

I sighed, “ I think I should be getting to bed...” I say and he looks down, still holding onto me tight.

“Why don’t I just stay?” He says like a sad, lost little puppy.

I sighed and looked up at him, “Because you’re my older brother and that’s weird,” I said, laughing and I playfully nudged him, “But hey, thank you...”

“For what?” He says with a smirk.

“You know what... I really appreciated what you said,” I hugged him really tight before he left. I’m really glad we had that talk. We were always walking on eggshells and I’m glad we got our relationship sorted out.

Blech, that sounds like we’re dating! I thought with a huff of laughter and climbed into bed. As I drifted off to sleep, I heard the wind blowing and leaves rustling.
