Lauren smiled with pride and joy at the message she had just sent to Camila. She loved talking with this girl, even if it was through text. They had barely even had a conversation before Camila had to go to class, but she was still extremely satisfied. Camila was an absolute dork, but in the most endearing and lovely way.
Lauren made her way into the dining hall and sat down at her regular table. She still had the remnants of the smile on her face, which her friends quickly noticed.
"What are you so happy about?" Normani asked, a smirk growing on her face.
"Nothing," Lauren said quickly, trying desperately to hide her happiness.
"Nuh-uh, missy, you're not getting past us this time. What's up?" Ally asked.
"It's none of your concern," Lauren stated matter-of-factly.
"Did you get laid?" Normani asked, her mouth wide open.
"No! Mani, what the hell?" Lauren laughed nervously.
"What is it then? Tell us!"
"So, you know how I went to that new restaurant in town last night?" Lauren began.
"Yeah..." Ally confirmed, intrigued by the story already.
"The line was, like, a mile long. It stretched out of the restaurant, it was crazy. Anyway, I got kinda close to the front and asked how long it would be for a table and the hostess said, like, forty-five minutes or an hour or something crazy like that. I swear I almost left right then." Lauren said.
"But..." Normani continued for her, her eyes lighting up.
"But," Lauren smiled, "I saw this girl sitting alone-"
"Girl?" Ally and Normani asked simultaneously.
"Yes, girl. Can I finish?" Lauren quipped annoyedly.
"Fine," Ally relented.
"Okay, so she was sitting all alone and I could clearly tell that she was supposed to meet someone. And it was super obvious that they had completely stood her up. Everyone in the restaurant knew it, and I mean everyone. People were, like, talking about her. I felt so bad for her. So, I went and sat down at her table and pretended to be the person she was meant to meet." Lauren finished nonchalantly.
"That's it?" Ally asked her.
"Yeah, all that happened after that was we ate and talked." Lauren shrugged.
"What did you eat?" Normani asked, a cheeky grin on her face.
"Jesus, Mani! What the hell? I'm straight, anyway," Lauren stated annoyedly.
"I don't remember you being 'straight' at Jason's party a month ago," Ally said, raising her eyebrows. Normani burst into laughter, almost spilling her water.
"Ally!" Lauren exclaimed, clearly scandalized, "That was once! And Keana and I were both completely wasted, so it doesn't even count."
"Last I heard, Keana isn't the straightest girl out there, Lauren," Ally said.
"Ugh, shut up. That's a rumor and you know it. I'm straight! I swear to god. Nothing happened between me and Camila," Lauren said firmly.
"Camila? That's the girl you had dinner with?" Normani asked eagerly.
"Yes, her name is Camila," Lauren rolled her eyes, pulling out her phone.
