Time To Say Goodbye

Chapter 2

A light knock on my bedroom door awoke me. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. "Come in." I said tiredly. Something stirred beside me and made me jump. I looked down to see Josh laying beside me. The arm he had around me now lay across my lap. I giggle at my stupidity. How could I have forgotten he was there?

The door to my bedroom opened and my mother peeked through. A smile lit her face when she saw Josh still asleep beside me. "It's almost like you two are a couple." She said jokingly. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, making them bright red. "We're just friends! Just best friends!" I yell whispered at her, trying not to wake up Josh. My mother giggled softly and Josh moved beside me again, sitting up this time and rubbing his eyes. "What I miss?" He said sleepily.

"No-Nothing." I stammered. He looked at me in confusion. "Just talking about how cute you two are together. One day you should ask my daughter out." My mother said still standing in the doorway. I grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. She caught it and shook her head. "Not so early in the morning." She smiled again and turned to walk away. "Breakfast is soon. Get ready." With that she closed the door and walked to the kitchen.

I slid out of bed and got undressed. "Woah!" I here Josh move out of bed and turn away from me. "A warning next time would be nice." I snickered and searched through my dresser for some clothes. I put on ripped jeans and a black tank top. "Hurry up." I said when I saw that Josh was still in his pajamas.

He grabbed his clothes from the ground at the foot of my bed and pointed to the door. "You can wait out there for me." I rolled my eyes and left me room, sitting on the ground outside of the door. A few minutes later he came back through the door and smiled down at me. I stood up and he turned to walk away but stopped when I grabbed his shoulder. "Wait. A hug?" I muttered. He turned and smiled at me, wrapping his arms around me. We stood there for a few minutes before he gave me a gently squeeze and let go.

**Sorry for the super short chapter... I'm trying to build up to the main plot but it harder than you think. Hopefully next chapter will be more interesting than this...
