It was a cold September morning, and Calum pulled his beanie lower on his head to keep out the biting wind. His eyes were dark, much like the skin under them, indicating his late night. He'd been up until 4am, watching Nightmare on Elm Street. His parents didn't know. His friends didn't know. Well, his friends just knew he liked horror movies. They didn't know the amount of time he spent watching them, laughing when people died and crying when they had a happy ending. His favourites were the ones which had self harm in, because it meant he didn't have to do it himself.
His friends didn't know how much time he spent picking out the perfect movie, or fantasising about being in the movies themselves.
Calum's life was going down the drain. He didn't speak to his family, his grades were slipping and he felt as though there was nothing he could do to stop it.
He felt utterly lost, and none of his friends got it. Sure, they'd been through bad stuff, everyone has, but nothing like what he was dealing with right now.
Sure, Calum's friends knew he liked horror movies.
But what they didn't know was this:
Calum was addicted.
