Chapter 11
Who would have thought that a morning in the woods would be this exciting! Okay... technically we haven't even made it into the woods yet but to me it didn't matter. Just the sight of Jack walking in front of me, shirtless, was enough to keep my blood pumping wildly.
With every step I could see his muscles bunch and relax, just begging for me to run my fingers all over them. I even wanted to smooth those same fingertips over the light splattering of freckles that adorned his broad shoulders.
"I hope you know where you are going?" I said in a light, sing-song voice, knowing full and well that he had no clue where we are headed. I just had to say something, hoping it would pull my mind away from those muscles! Hell, if I'm not thinking about that the only other thing on my mind is how a virgin like him could possibly know so much about pleasing a woman? Maybe he was lying when he said he was a virgin? It's possible after all... I mean, women do it everyday... right?
"Nope, not one bit. But if I had to take a guess, we are on a trail right now so it must lead somewhere or there wouldn't be one. Not only that but there seems to be a little more light ahead of us, maybe there is a clearing up ahead or a field of grass... right now anything will do." Jack answered, that last bit almost a whisper compared to his answer.
"Just so long as ya' don't get us lost out here. Well I guess I wouldn't really mind as long as you're here to keep the monsters away." I teased, tugging softly on the waistband of his shorts.
"I'd never let anything happen to you." Jack said under his breath, not meant for me to hear, I'm sure.
We walked along in silence, me too absorbed in Jack's body. Jack, quiet for his own reasons I'm sure but it still made me slightly uncomfortable. I never could stand silence... maybe that's why I talk so much?
Still mesmerized in Jack, I ran straight into him when he stopped directly in front of me. "Whoa! Warning next time, huh?"
"Sorry." Jack turned to face me, his body still blocking the trail in front of us. He shrugged the backpack on his shoulder up higher before putting his hands on my shoulders and pulling me to him gently.
I didn't even try to resist him as he lowered his mouth to mine, successfully capturing my own in a soft, almost lazy kiss. I swear if he hadn't been holding me up, I would have fallen straight on my knees in the dirt covered trail. This man just seemed to have that affect on me... a magnetic force that seemed to pull me to him completely.
"Told you I wouldn't get lost." Jack said once he pulled away from my needy lips.
I looked up at him, my face the perfect picture of confusion. "Huh?" Damn, he sure knew how to make me think of nothing but him.
Jack only chuckled before releasing me and stepping behind me. In front of me was one of the most romantic spots I had ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on. Thick, tall trees surrounded a brightly lit clearing, complete with it's own pond and soft rays of sun that found their way through the canopy of trees above. I could hear the sound of the crickets chirping in the heat of the morning as well as the rustling of birds in the leaves high above us. Hell, there was even the storybook white swan swimming lazy circles in the lily pad covered water.
"Wow..." I said, eyes wide in wonder.
"My thoughts exactly." Jack said. He stared straight at me, and even though I was talking about the sight in front of me I couldn't help but blush slightly at his words. No man had ever made me feel as special and unique as this man did. Of course I couldn't verbalize any of my thoughts but I'm sure that by the look of absolute adoration on my face, Jack got the idea...
