Chapter 7
"Micah and Devon's Funeral Home. Everyone here is dead, please tell me you have livelier company...like a certain hunky nerd boy? Are you calling to tell me you dusted off those cobwebs in your pants and got some this weekend!" Micah's voice called loudly through the other end of my cell phone. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her greeting, obviously she had a bit too much coffee this morning.
"Damn, slow down a bit there!" I laughed into the phone as I struggled to pull out my suitcase from the bottom of my closet.
"Fine, fine. What do you want, bitch?" she said feinting boredom.
"Well aren't we just full of sugar this mornin'." I grunted into the phone, tugging harder on the blasted luggage. Years of neglect resulted in the poor suitcase to be covered in old clothes and debris, so covered with stuff I'm surprised I didn't need a backhoe to uncover it.
"Well that's what you get for calling so early in the morning. Speaking of which what in the hell you doin' up so early for? Didn't you work last night?" Micah said into the phone.
"Yep, but I'm taking a va-kay and you are comin' with me." I ordered her, finally plopping down outside my closet, giving up on the damn evil suitcase.
"What! Sunshine, my dear, are you sick? Or just sick in the head?" She chuckled at her own crappy joke.
"Urg! Why does everyone think that? Yes, I'm taking a week off of work and leavin' town but it's been a long time comin'... So yeah, pack y'alls bags and hop in the car 'cause we goin' on a little road trip." I ordered her, still glaring at the bag stuck in the closet.
"Road trip? Where we going? How long are we going to be gone? Who exactly is 'we'?" she asked before yelling at her fiancé Devon to start packing.
"You two, Jack, and I are goin' up to Dylan's cabin for a week. Well, Jack and I are goin' for a week...y'all can stay however long you want to." I pushed the phone into my shoulder to hold it as I pushed myself off the floor.
"Whatever, when we leaving?" Micah said.
"If we leave after lunch, Dylan said we'd be there before four. Soo, I've gotta pack and make a stop to see Sue before we swing over that way...want anything?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Get a half, we can split it." Click. Micah hung up without warning. Shrugging, I tossed the phone over my shoulder onto the bed before staring down the suitcase.
"Okay, here's the deal. We've got less than two hours to get you packed and on the road so we can do this the easy way or the hard way..." I told it, pointing.
"What are you going to do? Beat it into submission?" Jack's voice said behind me.
I spun around, only a little embarrassed to be caught talking to my suitcase. Jack had a huge grin on his face, showing off his pearly whites. I let my eyes travel down his body, quickly taking in his white T-shirt clad chest. Ooo, look at those muscles!
"I won't have to if a certain sexy man would so kindly help me out..." I pouted, sticking out my bottom lip.
He pushed away from the doorway and over to my closet. Going down on all fours, showcasing those tight buns in his slacks, he reached in and pulled out the evil thing with one tug.
"There you go." Jack said putting the thing on the bed before turning back to me.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I yelled placing a kiss on his cheek.
"Y-You're welcome." Jack mumbled blushing. He looked so cute when he did that...
"Okay, so Micah and Devon are on board and I figured that we could just swing by there and they could follow us out, 'cause I don't wanna contaminate your beautiful car with her foul mouth. I'm hungry and still gotta pack and stop by Sue's...I don't think I wanna go anymore." I collapsed on the bed, dramatically throwing my hands in the air.
