THIRD PERSON POV

"I don't- I don't understand..." Eren stared at the other with his brow furrowed, as the shorter man moved around, haphazardly cleaning up the mess he had made of the room.

Eren stood with his arms crossed, while Levi was currently picking at loose bits from the hole in the wall and throwing them in the bin.

"I just can't do... this" he gestured out with his arms," anymore. Levi hadn't been able to face Eren eye to eye since after he got home. He couldn't bare to look into those eyes, the ones that had brought him warmth and youthful joy to marvel at. He couldn't bare to see any more of what he was losing.

"I will have my stuff out by tomorrow evening, and you can continue paying only half rent, that way you can afford it." He picked up the bin and started walking to the kitchen to put it back, Eren following right behind.

"But why? Why are you doing this? I though- I thought... I thought we were good, I-I thought we were getting somewhere, what happened? Did I do something wrong?" Levi tried to ignore the twinge of pain that hit his heart.

Eren didn't do anything wrong, he didn't want Eren to be hurt.

He will get over it soon enough, Levi thought to himself, It will be better in the long run, he will be free.

He ignored the other, walking past him with his eyes downcast, back into the living room, before leaning his dresser upright. He heard the other approach from behind, but simply continued with shoving the clothes that had fallen out back into his drawer.

"Levi, please just answer me! What the hell happened?" He finished up with his drawers and got up, walking back to inspect the hole in the wall, attempting to put some distance between himself and Eren, though he knew it was pointless as the boy would just follow.

Eren moved in front of Levi, biting his lip and cringing slightly when he saw the look of devastation on Levi's face as he hovered over his broken violin. He kneeled next to it and picked up the ravaged instrument, cradling it on his lap, after which Eren squatted next to him.

"Levi.. Levi, please, I'm so sorry. What did I do? Just tell me, I can fix it! I promise, just tell me what I did!" He swallowed the lump in his throat after he heard and felt his voice crack. "Lev-"

"Don't you get it, brat?!" Levi's head shot up, and though he kept his gaze away from Eren's, focusing up at the ceiling. He cursed at himself mentally, not meaning to sound so harsh. He swallowed nervously, tears threatening the corners of his eyes.

"You haven't done anything wrong, it's me! You, you're perfect. Everything good and bad about you, lovely and annoying and charming and infuriating, I find it all perfect! I'm- see I'm a fucking idiot. I don't- I can't-"

Levi looked to the side as he felt his breath hitch, and shook his head. He looked down to his beloved instrument, plucking gently at the broken strings, which twanged pathetically in a forlorn farewell.

"You have made these last few months some of the happiest I've had so far. You've made me smile, you've made me laugh- God forbid- and you've made me c-cry" Levi paused for a moment, gathering himself after he lost his voice slightly.

"You make me want to be happy, you make me jealous, you've affected me in a way that I shouldn't have let you affected me. All I want to do is make you happy, make you laugh, make you want me in the way I want you..." He kept looking down, his gaze following his hand as he moved it to brush gently against Eren's, before resting it on the others knee.

"But I'm- I'm terrified, and I'm anxious and I just can't. I can't do this to you. I'm older than you and could never ask so much of you. You are young, you should be out with friends and you should be dating and enjoying your life. Not tied down to some grumpy, clingy ass."
