Kuwait, same day
Later that evening, Megan called her daughter after all her friends had left.
"Sierra, I have something to tell you. I should have told you about this earlier. Do you know why you don't have a father?"
"Mom! Are you finally gonna tell me why I look nothing like you? Do I look like my father? Was he as tall as me at this age?"
Megan laughed nervously. "No that's not the reason. And that's a lot of questions. It'll take some time to explain so I think we should talk about this tomorrow."
"No mom. You can't make me wait now that you agreed to tell me. And this time please tell me everything. Not just about how my father was a 'wonderful' man."
"Sierra. This isn't how I wanted you to know. Through an unexpected letter. I didn't know that all your unexplained 'accidents' were because you.. You're not my daughter."
There was a long pause while Sierra processed what her mother said.
"Wait. So I'm not your daughter. Why didn't I know this before? And don't tell me that nonsense about me being too young. I'm eleven now, not five."
"Don't hate me sweetie. But I committed a crime when I'd gotten you. You aren't adopted through legal means. There was a gross mistake by the hospital staff the day I gave birth to my daughter."
*Flashback*
So much pain. Megan couldn't stand it. She gave a final push and the baby was delivered. She heard her cry and she was happier than she'd ever been before. But before she saw her baby, she heard the doctors cry out, "We're losing her! Where on earth is our pediatrician? Suction! Baby hasn't cried! We need suction!"
She was confused. But before she could ask anything, she became unconscious.
When she'd regained consciousness, she saw a crib next to her with a baby with light blonde hair in it. There was a doctor examining the child. She looked at him and asked,"Is that my baby? Can I see her?"
"Ma'am, your daughter has just been brought in from the nursery and she's just gotten to sleep."
"Well, can I get up to see her? How long has it been since I gave birth? Where's my obstetrician?"
"She's on her way ma'am. You have been unconscious for only a few hours. You will have to ask Dr. Joanna about mobility and your other daily activities."
The door opened then and her obstetrician came in. She was a young woman, barely 35.
She asked to speak to Megan alone. The pediatrician left.
"Listen Megan. What I'm about to tell you is a big mistake according to others. But I think you have a right to know. This baby here; she's a few weeks premature."
"But I was fully term when I gave birth. What's going on? Is this not my baby?"
"Megan, no she's not. Your baby died as soon as you gave birth"
There was a faint ringing in her ears and she felt the world crashing on her.
*End of Flashback*
"Apparently there was something wrong with her heart which wasn't detected earlier. So that's that. You're not my daughter. I do know that your family is English. Your mother was on vacation in India when she went into labor."
"But why did you raise me all these years if I wasn't your own daughter?" Sierra asked with tears in her eyes.
"Because you were the only thing I had left in my life that reminded me of my daughter. You are my daughter, even if you didn't come from me."
"But mum, what's this letter got to do with anything?"
"That's something I still don't know. When you were given into my care, it had been mentioned that you would have special talents. I didn't know that it included bursting my pillows when you were angry."
Sierra laughed with her mother at the shared memory. " Well, no matter what, you are the one that raised me. So, you are my mother no matter what anyone else says."
Same day, Potter Manor
"Wait, what?! I have a sister that you both never mentioned to me? Why?"
"Son, listen to me. She went missing right after she was born. There was no point in telling you about her unless we knew that she was still living. Now we have proof. The letter that Dumbledore send out is our proof."
"I knew where she was." Cassandra said in a whisper.
"What?" Both son and father turned to look at her.
"I knew where she was. I'd given her away to this poor lady who'd just lost her baby. It was the right thing to do. I'd Seen it."
"Seen it? Mum, you're a Seer?"
"Yes. And I know what has been coming since before she was born. This girl can save our world from darkness."
"So we find her and bring her to Potter Manor?"
"If she wants to. There should be no coercion. This is what I've seen."
