Chapter 4: Bus Fracus

{ Denisse POV }

I got home quickly. I took a warm bath and then headed to the school bus stop outside. I decided to leave early because I still have my home works left undone. I took the first school bus to school, since Sean's still sleeping, and I still don't have my own car. This bus is for nerd people. And actually, I'm not a usual passenger here. These nerd people are different from the normal ones. They're not like those nerds who wear glasses, and they're not weak to be messed up with. So practically, they're just intelligent, I guess. And come to think of it, I'm the only nerd who's being bullied at school. Yay me! Ugh!

I entered the wild inside of the school bus. It seemed like they're partying or something. Told you they're not the typical nerds we used to see in movies. And at the moment they saw me, everyone went silent. They all shot me with an uncomfortable glare. Well, I don't care at all. Idolize or despise, either way it shows I'm recognized.

Despite of their killing stares, I still managed to walk to find a seat. Every of their eyes followed me as I walked towards the end of the bus. I looked back to face them, and luckily they all looked away and continued with their own businesses. I sat beside a sleeping nerd with a book covering his face. And it confused me about how can he sleep with this loud music playing on the bus, and not to mention the students here were all screaming like hell? Woah, this nerd's tough. He's must be really exhausted.

I ignored the nerd and then put on my earphones. I maxed out my volume, but it still didn't outweigh the loudness of the music in the bus. I closed my eyes as I continued to sing mentally. I wouldn't dare to whisper or to even hum. My voice could cause a riot. I was enjoying my concert-like imagination when the bus came to a full stop, making me bump my head to the back of the seat in front of me.

"Ouch!" The guy beside me and I both muttered in annoyance. The book from the nerd fell. And I was astounded to see who it was.

"Coo coo brain?" I asked softly, not sure with what I'm seeing. Positive. It was the jerk, alright. The jerk who bullies me and kidnapped me once. Well, he didn't really kidnap me, but I am considering it like that.

"My name's not coo coo brain, for pete's sake! Could you stop that?! It's really annoying!" By the tone of his voice, he seemed annoyed and insulted at the same time. I would laugh now, but I realized that I'm still in the bus filled with sluts and jerks, so I decided to keep my laugh and burst them all out later.

"Fine! Who are you anyway?! After I slept with you, I still don't know your freaking name." I said in a not-so-quiet way. And that gain me two glaring bimbos in front of me. Wait, what did I do now? I didn't know that asking someone's name is now a crime. Forgive me.

"Look at her Anne, she slept with Max. Is it just me, or are we in outer space, where everything can turn upside down easily?!" The dirty blonde girl said. So, his name is Max huh? Anyway, I'm still quite confused. Talk about exaggerated slut over here.

"I know right." The other blonde girl, whom I think is Anne, raised an eyebrow at me for a second. Then shifted her gaze to the jerk beside me. "So Max, did this brat cast a spell on you? Or your eyes are just blurred enough to see the huge difference between me and her?!"

Coo coo brain ignored her, so I ignored her as well. But the next thing I knew, she's pulling my hair.

"Ouch! Get off me!" I yelled, or more like begged. I tried to remove her hands off my hair, but her grip was too tight. I need a miracle! Oh gosh. And by miracle, I need my brother - Sean!

I covered my face with both of my hands instead. I remained motionless as I waited for Anne to let go. But she still did not stop. I felt a tear escape my eyes, and then suddenly more tears started to fall. I am crying but I don't feel any pain, excluding how my scalp ache. Anne definitely does not deserve even a single drip of my tear.

"Stop it, Anne! You're acting  like a kid! Quit it, now!" Coo coo brain demanded. And that's where Anne decided to stop. Does the jerk have a right over Anne? How could he stop in just one phrase of the coo coo brain?

"Are you nuts, Max?! You've grown more naive! How could you pick someone like her, when there's a lot better out here?" She asked and waited for Max's response, but she received none so she just continued. "And honestly, you can have me again. Please let's try this for the second time. Let's give Us another chance." Anne started to shed a tear. She hugged Max, and he hugged her back.

I wiped my eyes with my scarf and then looked at Max again. He seemed happy, but when I saw his eyes, my feelings blacked out. Why am I feeling like this? Is this because of conscience? Happiness was plastered on his face while his eyes filled with hatred. As far as I can see, he's loving and hating at the same time.

The bus continued to move while everyone watched our dramatic scene. Max and Anne were still on each other's arms until the ride stopped. I quickly excused myself as I picked my things. I then abruptly ran straight to our homeroom.

I went to three of my classes without my usual self. I'm listening attentively at first, but in a split second, I always find myself thinking about certain things. Specifically, things that are related to our so-called epic bus play this morning. The bell rang. Good thing Algebra class was over. Gym class is next. Gee! Talk about sour smell and sweats. If there's one subject I've hated ever since I found out that numbers are dating with letters, it would be gym class.

I fixed my things in my locker before I made my way through the gym. I entered the shower room just like old times, no - more like usual times. And by always, I mean with glares and vicious whispers from them. I sat at the bench in front of my gym locker as I waited for the other girls to leave. That's my routine. Well probably because they might do something nasty to me. I know, I'm being paranoid, but who else won't be? Me, living in this harsh reality is enough of a practice if ever I won't be heading straight to heaven.

When the last group of girls left, I stood up and opened my locker. There I saw brownies in a tiny purple basket. I picked it up and smelled the savory fragrance of it. Who is this person that is nice enough to send me brownies? Or maybe, this contained poison or something? HAH! I may be the school's first-ranked-nerd-who-is-always-been-bullied but I will never fall into some airhead's trap. I was about to put the basket back in its place before, when I found a note.

"Thank you for sitting beside me in the bus this morning. I really appreciate it. You made me and my ex-girlfriend reconcile. Thank you! You made my mood shift to be elated. And the fact that you were bullied this morning, you made me jollier even more. Hahaha! Kidding! So anyways, thank you.

-- Max (not the coo coo brain, or jerk.)"

So, these were from the jerk huh? Is this really non-toxic? Well, Max himself is a toxic, so what makes the things from him any different? I felt my stomach growl. Okay, slap me now, but is he a psychic? Perfect timing, coo coo brain. You finally got one right.

I finally uploaded. yay! =) I know this chapter is short. But see, you now know the name of the Mystery guy - Max Riley. And I just introduced another character -Anne Miller . What role will she play in Denisse's life? What is that? Very predictable? Hmmm. Read me if you can. :D *friendly evil smirk here*
