I suck I know. This is only part of chapter 2 there is more I promise. I feel guilty for not updating so I figured part was better than the whole. I'm almost done with school and once I fininsh I'll be able to spend more time on FFM and update quicker.

“So,” I started as we hopped into Javier’s cobalt blue 2013 Ford F-150 truck, “what happened to you having a cab pick me up?”

“The Boss called, and said he needed me in Jersey,” he said grudgingly.

“I take it you don’t like Jersey?” I turned so I was facing him.

He sighed and shook his head. “I got nothing against Jersey, I have everything against what the Boss is more than likely goin’ to make me do.”

“Which is?” I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

“. . . Training the new recruits.”

I gasped and placed a hand on my chest faking hurt. “I take offense to that!”

“Oh, that’s right you’ll be a new recruit… Maybe it won’t be so bad,” he said flashing a cheeky grin my way.

“You say that like it’s the worst thing in the world to do. I mean, come on, what makes training recruits so bad?”

“The whining.”

“You sure? I think you hesitated for like a nano-second there.”

“I’m absolutely positive the whining is the worst thing in the world.” He cleared his throat and attempted to imitate… I’m not even sure what he was trying to imitate. “I’m tired. My feet hurt. My shoulders are sore. I feel like my legs have fallen off. Oh Gawd I can’t move!”

I cracked up laughing. “… Oh gah… Y-yo-you… sound like a… girl!” I gasped between fits of laughter. My stomach hurt and tears were rolling down my face from laughing so hard.

Javier just grinned. “Why, thank you. I worked hard to perfect that.”

“To sound like a girl? Man that’s just sad,” I said shaking my head.

“Oh hush up, we’re here.” He shoved my shoulder as he turned the truck off.

“Oh my gah! I think you broke it!” I cried clutching my arm. The affect I wanted was ruined by the grin stretching across my face.

“Oh, hush up and get to movin’,” he replied lightly slapping the back of my head.

“Aye, aye! Captain!”  I said cheerily, with a mock salute.

I walked onto base next to Chief. Chief is Jack’s title and what I have to call him from here on out. At least in public. I visited the recruiter’s office so many times that Jack became a second father to me. I can already tell he has a soft spot for me which means he will not go easy on me during training. I’m pretty sure I can handle it, though. I was raised with seven brothers. Okay, well, I only had the one brother, but, between his friends and my cousins, I had seven brothers.

“Sorren, you’re to go to the dorms for now. An officer will be there waiting to explain how the next  couple months are to go,” Jack said in an unfamiliar, stiff, formal tone.

“Yes sir, Chief,” I replied in the same tone.

I walked into the bland dorm under the stern gaze of the petty officer. “You must be Sorren.”

“Yes sir, Petty Officer.”

“Everyone else has already been briefed of how the next few months are gonna go, and since I don’t wanna go into it again, your briefing will be a briefing of the briefing. Understood?”
