PROLOGUE
The story of the Dragons is a long and dreary one. A long, long time ago, the vast world we all know and love was ruled by Dragons. Dragons ruled virtually everything, and acted as extreme dictators. Humans, Felinar, Goblins, Werewolves, Argantons, Vampires... you name it. The Dragons were close to enslaving literally every other race.
The last race to enslave was known as the Knives. They were a sub-race of humans designed by the Twelve Gods of Sola to defeat the dragons. And among the Knives was their champion, the Dragonspawn.
The Dragonspawn was essentially a dragon in a different race's body. This was key for the Knives because it meant they had a weapon no other race had. The Dragonspawn had power that rivaled the Dragons, and along with the help of the Knives, the Dragonspawn was able to overthrow the malevolent rule of the Dragons.
After years of hunting the remaining Dragons down, the Knives had managed to extinct an entire race. The spot where the original Dragon, Arcluse, was finally vanquished after years of hunting and fighting, was built into a city, and was named Dragontopia, the capital city of modern day Cloudrend.
The city had been built to hold peace for all of the races of Cloudrend. The threat of the Dragons was vanquished, the Dragons themselves were extinct, and Cloudrend was completely peaceful. The inhabitants of Cloudrend had all grown up with the belief that everything was safe and eternally peaceful.
Until now.

A Killer's Conduct
CHAPTER ONE
History Revealed
After Char-gar went inside the inn, Thargut headed to Geen Maldafa the Wise's house. Thargut and Maldafa had been close friends growing up. When both were chosen to become Geens of separate cities, that bond was broken. Thargut hoped she still valued the old relationship as much as he did.
He knocked on the door. When it opened, a striking young woman was in the doorway. Thargut couldn't believe his eyes.
"Maldafa?" Thargut stuttured.
"My, my. If it isn't Thargut. I haven't seen you since we were Followers. You look very handsome. Come, come in. Make yourself at home." an absent-minded Maldafa replied.
Thargut stepped through doorway. Maldafa led him in to her kitchen. He sat in a chair and waited for her to sit, too. When she finally did, she looked very tired and aged.
"Maldafa... what is going on in that head of yours?"
"Many things Thargut. Many dark, troubling things. Dragons are returning, Cloudrend's on the brink of a civil war, and my city is a ghost of its former self."
"That's what I came to talk to you about. What do you know about the Dragons' sudden reappearance?"
"Nothing really. I know Arcluse awoke and went berserk in Dragontopia. It's practically a ruin now. But that's all I know."
She looked out the window.
"How long before you tell your friend about us?" asked Maldafa.
"He doesn't need to know just yet. Only when it is time to take Arcluse down," Thargut responded.
"I sure hope you know what you're doing." said Maldafa.
"For Char-gar's sake, so do I..."
