Double D ran down the street, puddles splashing up as turned the corner. His legs burned and his lungs begged for air, the harsh rain cold on his skin and soaking his clothes, but he had to keep running. He had to. Only a few blocks more, then he'd be out of the rain, he'd be in a dry, safe place where no bullies could hurt him. Not even the one's who'd formerly been his best, and only friends-- The one's who were chasing him at this very minute. Tears streaked down Double D's face as he ran through the rain, and he knew he couldn't make it home before they caught him. Double D finally stopped, succumbed to defeat as the boys ran over to him. He rested his hands on his knees, breathing heavily as the two stood over him. Eddy had grown much taller, and had spent time getting stronger. Ed didn't gain any intelligence, but like his best friend Eddy, had grown stronger. The two hated Double D for what he did to them when they were younger. They'd asked him to help out with a heist, a robbery to steal jawbreakers because they couldn't rack up enough cash to do it after the cul-de-sac kids realized they'd all been wasting quarters on their stupid schemes. Double D had refused to do it, and turned all three of them in. Eddy and Ed hated him since then, constantly bullying, teasing, and harrassing him. Eddy grabbed Double D's shoulder, and harshly jerked him to the side to face Ed. The only noise that could be heard was Double D's whimpering, the boy's ragged breaths, and the pitter-patter of the rain as it fell to the ground.
"Do it, Ed.." Eddy whispered roughly as raindrops slid down his face. Ed gave him a slight nod, sending a few drops of the clear liquid off his hair and down to the ground as he raised a hand. Although Ed wasn't very bright, he knew exactly what Eddy wanted him to do. He slammed his fist into Double D's right eye. Double D let out a loud, shrill scream, which quickly faded as he went limp in Eddy's arms. Eddy laughed, and let him drop to the ground.
"It gets easier everytime now, doesn't it Ed?" Ed laughed as the two walked away from the passed-out boy.
"It sure does, Eddy!"
