Myriad - Cycle 496

War comes hand in hand with death. With war, death is inevitable. It was all because of the retards (sorry couldnt resist myself) who launched the dust bombs who literally made us lose to the Deathless. Without enough men to fight against the Deathless, it was inevitable that they won. Death was a punishment paid by most humans. To us, we thought that our time in this world had come to an end. We thought that Mother Nature wasn't happy with us, and wanted her world back. In the aliens' perspective, it was the colonization of a new world, and the conquering and elimination of an entirely different species. That year, the human population dwindled down to a mere 10 million. With 10 million people, what could we do? All we could do was to watch our fellow humans slowly get eliminated one by one, unable to stop the Deathless. In the next cycle or so, there was no news about order being reestablished, or anyone to help the survivors. It seemed that most of the important people had died already. Rumours started floating around that the human race's doom was for sure, but some were skeptical. Some insisted there was still hope, as rumours that said people who survived the dust bombs, who got infected by the dustdiation, received magical powers. However, these rumours ceased to exist after no one was shown to have these special powers.

People formed groups to survive and stole whatever they could. After all, it is instinct that we will do whatever it takes to survive. Whenever a group met another group, fights over provisions were common, resulting in more death. Don't you think the human race is screwed? Fights over such small things such as provisions and privileges to food. Doom will come to us earlier than anticipated. In this case, extinction is really inevitable.

Before the Final War started, scientists and engineers all over the world collaborated and finished one of the ultimate weapons. No, not the dust bombs, but, a dust gun. A single shot from it could kill a human and vaporize him on the spot. Different countries all around the world wanted to monopolize its trade on dust guns, while other slightly more peaceful countries demanded that the guns be destroyed. After all, they would become a huge threat if they fell into the wrong hands. In Cycle 495, every country declared war on every other country. They prepared for a year, and The Final War started soon after.

Halfway through Cycle 496, when 60% of Myriad's population were dead, the Deathless arrived. Their mothership stayed in space for a few days. There was a temporary ceasefire for all countries until the aliens were gone. Ambassadors from all countries were sent to negotiate treaties with the aliens, only for all of them to never return. As a result, Myriad, as a whole, declared war on the Deathless. 3 billion people, against a mothership with 2000 Deathless on it. Don't you think the war was one-sided. However, issues of using the dust gun appeared once more, and the countries distrusted each other. The Deathless, only fired one shot at each country, but each shot was enough to wipe out 10 countries altogether. With most of the big countries dead, humans were defenceless. This was when the Deathless came down to Myriad in person to "greet" us.

They came in batches. Firstly, it was the scouts who came and checked whether there were any more threats.
Next, the soldiers came down, and lastly, the queen came down, and a palace was built for her. The palace was built of completely white building materials, which contrasted their dark skin. No Deathless defied the queen's orders. Her orders were absolute and final. Her request? Terminate every living organism, and inhabit Myriad. Few Deathless could actually speak in fluent Myriadese (these happen yo be the translators) so their language was deemed incomprehensible as they spoke in grunts and moans. That Cycle, began the countdown of the extinction of the human race, or Doomsday.

In cycle 498, an attempt to stop the Deathless was planned. 2000 people stormed the palace, only to result in 4 left alive. From them, we learnt that without a queen, the Deathless could not do anything, and would eventually die off. We humans saw this as a potential way to beat the Deathless, but no other attempts have succeeded in killing the queen. All of them died trying and no one lived to tell the tale. Other information that was deemed useful was that a minority of the Deathless population could teleport. This increase our fears as they would be harder to evade. Deathless could also speak via telepathy, or speaking out verbally. By speaking telepathically, it was harder to find out whether they were conspiring or calling others for help.

All of us lived in fear, until an unknown rock was found. That's right,
the moonrock. Existing in very small quantities, it was brought by the Deathless when it stowed away on their ship. In a sense, it was both alive and dead at the same time. It was the only known object in existence to counter these Deathless. As a result, it was highly regarded and people did whatever it took to get their hands on it.

This is Cycle 499. In Cycle 500, the 4 moons of Myriad will align. That year, it will be forever bright in the night. The Deathless would be hugely affected in terms of power. That is the year when the next attempt to rid the Deathless is happening. If we fail, we are extinct for sure...
