When we got home, I decided to ask Harry what I should do about Alex. I knocked on his door quietly.
“Hey Harry, can I ask you something?” I said, walking into his messy room.
“Sure what’s up?” he asked, sitting down heavily on his bed.
“Err… well…you see…i-really-like-Alex-and-i-want-to-ask-her-to-the-dance-but-I’m-too-scared-she-doesn’t-like-me-back!”I said quickly.
“Whoa, slow down! She obviously likes you, you’re her best friend!” he laughed.
I grimaced, “But-”
“Aww, Josh is in love!” Jacob pushed open the door and smirked at me and Sam stood at the door laughing.
Oh no, now Jake and Sam know I like Alex. My. Life. Is. Over.
“Don’t be mean Jake. Just leave him alone” Harry said quietly.
“No way! This is too funny!” Jake laughs “So, are you gonna ask her to the dance?”
“Erm, I’m not sure yet…” I say, surprised by the sudden attention from my brother.
“Good, and don’t bother. She deserves someone much better than you!” he snaps, taking a step toward me.
I step closer to the door, surprised by his mood swing and wary of his clenched fists. I saw Sam step back from the door, surprised too.
“Umm okay sure, bye Harry…” I half-heartedly smile at Harry as I walk out the door, feeling Jake’s stare burning into my back.
Normally when my brothers are being horrible I call Alex and I didn’t break the tradition.
Ring Ring Ring Ring…
Why isn’t she picking up-?
“Hey Josh, what’s up?” I heard her say.
“Jake and Sam” I say quietly
“Uh oh what happened?”
“Jake never leaves me alone and treats me like dirt. He never respects anything I do. I hate him so mu-“
“Why are you so horrible to him? You never try to get along with him!” Alex snaps.
“Huh? What are you talking about? You’ve seen how he is to me-“
“Bye josh” she hung up.
She loves me not
