We took another teleporter to the Palace, and when we walked in, I wanted to punch myself in the gut. I had felt really nervous walking into that room for no reason, and still sounded like a complete jerk. I wanted to go back and apologize, but she did need to rest more. I could tell.

"So, what'd you guys talk about? Not trying to be nosy," he said.

Sure you aren't I thought.

"Well, SOMEone's a little cranky, isn't he? C'mon dude, what's eatin' at ya?" I felt like answering sarcastically.

"Well, did she ever explain to you what happened with us before I left?" I asked him.

"No," he said. "Sometimes she's had moments where she was really quiet, and I've asked her what she was doing. She always replied 'I'm just feeling the calm breeze.'" Now, I felt even more like a jerk. I kinda twitched, because I wanted to run back and say something.

"Well, right before I had to go to the Special Zone to help the Chaotix, I told her that I wanted to be something more, and she got all giddy about it," I started. "By that I think she took it as me proposing to her, when I actually meant becoming more relationally involved. If that makes any sense. Then, on the day I was beginning to leave, she asked me about the supposed 'wedding' that was going to happen. I asked her what she was talking about, and we stormed up an argument. I told her afterwards I never wanted to see her again..." I was beginning to tear up a little bit. "While I was in the Special Zone, letters from her kept piling up in the corner of the work space I was in, each one having her write something different in each one. One of them being that she wasn't mad and really wanted to apologize, but..." I stopped. I was full-out crying at this point.

"There there, man. Bring it in. It's alright." Knuckles started to stroke my quills as I layer my head on his shoulder sobbing.

"But I was the one who needed to apologize. I was the one being a jerk!" I yelled. I couldn't help but let all my feelings ooze out of my, like a bucket of thick paint falling over.

"Wow, man," Knuckles said, "you were gonna do all that, and you threw it away. It's all in the past though. I know you'll get your chance to apologize soon. Now, about Miles...we-" Again, we were interrupted, but this time by a rumble on the surface of the island. "Uh-oh. Sounds like trouble." Knuckles said.

"Let's go check it out," I said. Before we knew it, we were on the surface, faced with some familiar Badniks from when I first came to the island. I took action and spin-dashed through them like it was nothing. Knuckles spiked one in the face, and hurled it at some other ones. Tiny animals flew out, and scurried behind us for cover. A shadow was floating in the sky.

"OH-HO-HO!! If it isn't Sonic!" I've heard that voice before. "So nice of you to drop by on the island after I attacked it! I've heard you've seen your little girlfriend in the hospital, eh? How's she look? Tired? Beaten up? Hahaha!!"

"Eggman, I'm tired of this! She's not my girlfriend!!! Oh wait, I can't use that gag anymore, she is my girlfriend. Either way, we're putting a stop to whatever your evil scheme is!"

"Oh? Is that so? Well why don't you say hi to Metal Sonic again, huh? Ahahaha!!"
From behind us, we heard a high pitched engine getting louder and louder. We dodged out of the way, and Metal Sonic darted through, claws out, trying to catch us off guard. He zoomed back towards me to face me head on, acting like Knuckles wasn't even there. "Finally, some action!" I shouted. "Take this, ya chrome dome!" I spun at him with a light-speed dash, and knocked him towards Eggman's Eggmobile. "Steeeeeerrrrrerrriike!!!" I yelled. "Yooooooouuuuurrrrrrrr OUT!"

"Well, *grunt* maybe you won't be so cocky after I show you THIS!" Eggman pulled up a screen with the most horrific image ever put into my mind. "I'll be back, Sonic," Eggman said, "and next time, you won't be so lucky!" He flew off, and so did Metal.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE?!" I yelled at Knuckles.

"Sonic, I've been meaning to tell you, but I haven't gotten the chance. Miles...Tails if you rather, was abducted about half a year ago. Eggman took him and ran experiments on him. Now, he's turned him into the most horrifying thing yet."

"...Metal Tails..." I said.
