I was just doing my hair when I heard the door bell.

I grabbed my bag and mobile , checking my appearance for the last time in the mirror and ran down the stairs.

I was giggling like a 13 year old in my head and its disgusting, really! I reached the kitchen to find his back towards me.

I was still staring at him with wide eyes. Why is he here? I mean yeah he was supposed to take me to school but...
"You don't exactly look happy to see me today" his voice was laced with worry.
"Oh! No no no no i-its not that. I was just wondering why you're here? I mean this early?"
"I was thinking that I could take you out to breakfast or something. You know to make it up for your birthday" he said with wide eyes, pursed lips and a hand rubbing at his neck nervously. He looks cute.

"Because I know you love surprises so I thought I'll surprise you" he said with a shrug.
"That's really thoughtful of you" I said with a smile.

I was still smiling as an awkward silence settled between us. This has never happened before. We were never awkward no matter what. And I don't like this one bit.
He cleared his throat "Uh you look different.... I mean cute... But you always look cute...what I really mean is like-uh you know..not what you usually wear"
Since when did he start stuttering around me?? This is just not done. Something is terribly wrong.

I gave him a tight lipped smile.
