The twilight sky cast a blush across the now deserted parking lot. Crickets had started chirping, and birds had ceased their songs.
Clancy and I sat in silence, watching as the sun's rays ebbed from sight. Neither of us had said anything for a while, but somehow his hand had found it's place warming mine as we sat on the chilled asphalt.
I hated to break the serene, comfortable environment we'd created, but I couldn't stay any longer. "Clancy," I mutter, making sure to catch his attention before continuing,"I need to go."
He turned to me, and my breath caught as the last rays of light captured the blue of his irises, turning them even more enthralling. "Are you sure," he asked, beginning to trace light circles with his thumb across the palm of my hand. I didn't let myself enjoy the sensation, and instead quickly pulling away before answering,"Incredibly."
A emotion that resembled frustration danced across his face, but it's gone so fast I almost begin to believe I imagined it. "Of course, I should be getting home to. I have university tomorrow morning."
"Oh?" I question. Of all the things we talked about today, schooling oddly wasn't on the list. I did, however, find out he's twenty (which is two years older than me), has an older brother by four years, lives alone, is originally from Florida, and has resided in the city for three months now.
Clancy made a quick noise of agreement before continuing,"Ivington. Tomorrow is my first day." I can't stop my wide grin,"Hey, that's where I go!"
Clancy looks at me and gives another breathtaking smile,"What a coincidence. I've actually been nervous all week, so I can't tell you how relieved I am now that I know someone there. And not just any someone, but an incredibly beautiful girl at that."
I can't stop the bright blush working its way across my cheeks, or the nervous giggle. Clancy continuous smiling, now standing up. He wipes his hands on his jeans before reaching out to help me up too.
Once standing, I grab the paper shopping bags that had previously rested by my side. Clancy goes the reach for one, arm still stretched out as I sidestep it. "Thank you Clancy, but I'm okay."
Clancy gives an understanding smile and a nod. He then runs a hand through his impressively thick hair, and let's out a sigh, "As long as you don't need help then, I'll be heading home. I'm not too far away now, so I'm walking. Are you taking the bus?"
I subtly shift the majority of my weight to my right foot, already beginning to feel an ache in my arms from the bags as he's talking. I nod in response first, before actually replying, "Yes. And um, thank you for today... you know the shopping and everything. Having some good company was nice, I really appreciate it."
He nods with a grin, and starts to turn towards the opposite direction of the bus stop. Clancy takes a few steps before glancing over his shoulder and begins to talk as he goes,"Well, thanks for letting me tag along Sun. Maybe I'll see you tomorrow." He waved one last time before sticking his hands in his pockets and facing forward again. He saunters away, looking as though he doesn't have a care in the world, and I'm left to unintentionally marvel at how much of a contrast I am of that.
I can't help but wish that he'd turn around one more time, just so I could get a last glance at, well, him. I'm fully aware of how ridiculous it is, my desire for such a foolish thing. I've known him for a total of approximately nine hours, yet I have this irrefutable, perfervid draw to him. It's completely absurd.
He doesn't, and I slightly shake my head at my own thoughts before beginning my journey to the bus.

The apartment was quiet as I set my keys and purse on the entry table before flicking on the hall light with an echoing click. After kicking the door shut and securing lock with a practiced maneuver involving my elbow, I continue to lug the shopping bags around the corner and into the living room.
Eventually, after a good amount of time glaring at the bags and hoping they'd magically unpack themselves, I grab my phone and start some loud music. I tied my hair into a sloppy ponytail, changed into yoga pants, and rolled up the sleeves on my checkered shirt.
Decorating had always been an enjoyable interest for me, and finally getting my own place with the freedom and a clean slate to start on just felt so good.
