Reba woke up the next morning knowing that her day was going to be, well let's just say, "eventful." She was still trying to process what happened last night in her kitchen but she couldn't wrap her head around it completely. The only thing she could think of that made her happy right now is that it was Saturday and she didn't have to work. So, at about 8 am she was out of bed and into the kitchen. She did her morning routine. Brushing her teeth, washing her face, putting her hair up in a loose ponytail, and then make coffee. Reba wanted to do everything she could to avoid Brock today. She knew it would be totally awkward between them. Reba never thought that anything like what happened last night would ever come close to happening. But it did, and now the both of them had a lot of talking to do.
Brock's house-
It was now about 8:45. Brock woke up and left Barbara Jean sleeping. He left the bedroom and went downstairs to start brewing a pot of coffee. He was also thinking about last night. He couldnt believe it either. But unlike reba, he wanted to see her today and he wanted to talk about it. He missed her so much, everything about her. Yeah he saw her almost everyday when him and Barbara Jean would go to her house, but he didn't mean it like that. He missed being her husband and he could only hope that she missed being his wife. He missed their little "moments" together. Like when she would come downstairs every morning when she had no makeup on and her hair was a mess, but he thought she was absolutely beautiful. Every morning, before either one of them said anything, the first thing they did was give each other a kiss. Simple, but they didn't need roses and special dinners to show they loved each other. That was one thing they both loved about the other. But all that was over. When Brock had his affair, that was thrown away in seconds. As all of these thoughts went through brocks mind, he was sitting on the couch sipping his coffee and watching the news. He knew what he told reba last night was not a mistake and he didn't regret it. But he didn't know if reba thought the same thing. He knew shortly, he would go over there and neither one of them knew what would be said or what would happen.
Back to "normal" setting-
Brocks main concern was Barbara Jean. He didn't want to hurt her but he didn't know how he could love BJ and Reba at the same time. Or did he? Right now he didn't know. But how can you love two women at the same time? Barbara Jean was also reba's main concern. As much as she hated to admit it, Barbara Jean had become a very close friend and she didn't want to hurt her either. But if you really think about it, Barbara Jean already hurt reba. But Reba wasn't the kind of person that would give payback. That wasn't right, no matter how mad BJ made her. It was now going on 9:30. Reba needed to go get showered and dressed for the day and so did Brock. So Reba went up and took her shower. Then she blow dryed her hair, fixed it, put on some make up, and threw on some clothes. She put on some dark jeans and a turquoise long sleeve v-neck shirt. At brocks house, he as well went up and took a shower, combed his hair and did his silly moisturizing routine, then put on some clothes. He was also wearing dark jeans and a creame colored button up shirt. Brock finally got the courage to call Reba and ask when would be a good time to come over. "Whenever is fine. I'm not doing anything today." Reba told him over the phone. She sounded a little aggravated which was not what Brock wanted. "Okay, I will be over there as soon as Barbara Jean leaves to take Henry to the park." Brock replied. "Alrighty, bye Brock." Reba said. "Bye Reba." And then he hung up the phone. Fifteen minutes or so went by and then Brock was on his way to Reba's house. It took him no more than forty five seconds to get there in his car. Reba was upstairs when she heard the door bell ring from downstairs. Her hands were shaking and all sweaty. She couldn't remember the last time she had been this nervous about anything. She walked down the steps to answer the door. "Well, that's the first time you've rang the doorbell in ages!" Reba said. "Hey reba." Brock said. He walked into the living room and sat down in the chair. Reba followed him and sat on the couch. "So, how was your morning?" Reba asked trying to break the silence. "Reba, we both know what happened last night. I don't want to pretend nothing happened. So please, can we just start discussing that now?" Brock said trying to get to the point. Reba had a shocked look on her face but didn't say anything. "Yeah, okay." Reba said a little scared. Brock stood from our of the chair and went to sit by reba on the couch. "Look reba, I don't regret what I said last night. I really did mean it." He told her in the most sincere way possible. "Really Brock? I just think we got caught up in the moment. I don't think we meant it." Reba said. "Why on earth would you say that?" Brock asked. Why wouldn't she just admit that she really truly loved him too. Brock looked down and grabbed reba's hand into his own and placed it on lap. "Im serious reba." Brock said almost whispering. "This is crazy!" Reba said standing up so fast from the couch that she felt a bit dizzy for a second. "And what if I do still love you? It wouldn't change anything. Your married Brock! You only get one woman! Not two at a time!" Reba was starting to get really worked up. "Reba, calm down. You know you need to watch your blood pressure." Brock said pulling her back down by him on the couch. "I just don't know what to do Brock." Reba said with a tear running down her cheek. "Oh Reba come here." Brock said. He pulled her into a tight, warm hug and he rested his head on top of her head while she cried into his chest. "Brock, I really do still love you. But that doesn't mean anything anymore." Reba said. She lifted her head up and and sniffled. "Reba what are you talking about?" Brock asked while he wiped a tear from her cheek. "Like I said, your married brock. There is no chance of us even attempting to get back together. As much as I hate to say it Brock, any chance of us being together is gone. I may still love you, but I just don't know if I could still trust you like I used to. And that's final." Reba said trying to keep herself from crying again. "Reba, I don't know what you want me to do. We can't help it if we still love one another. Thats that and there is nothing you can change about it. I want you Reba. I really do." Brock said. He himself was holding back tears. And Brock never cries. Except for when John D died. When Reba saw Brock trying not to cry, she knew he was completely serious about the whole situation. "Brock, I love you and you love me. But we can't get back together. We can't hurt all of the people we care about again. It's just too much." Reba said. "Reba, I want you, I want to be with you. I always have and always will." he said. Then he got up and left the couch and headed towards the front door. "Wait, Brock." Reba said and grabbed his arm. "Reba-" Brock said but Reba cut him off. "Maybe I was wrong. Maybe there is someway somehow we could make "us" work again." Reba said. She couldnt believe what she was saying. Neither could Brock. "But I just don't know how. With Barbara Jean and the kids and everything, I mean it's just so much." Reba said. "Somehow, it will work. Lets just sit back and let things happen." He said. He stepped down the small step that separated the living area and front door and cupped his hands on the outsides of her face. "But I know one thing that is for sure. I love you." Brock said. He told Reba. She responded with a small kiss on his cheek. She didn't have to say those three words because Brock knew she loved him too.
