It had been a few days since Brock and Reba confessed they still love each other. But no one else knew about it but them.
Reba was sitting in her living room enjoying a glass of red wine and reading a book. It was around 8 pm and the house was empty which was rare. So when it was, reba enjoyed every second of it. She loved peace and quiet. Which is what she needed after the whole ordeal with Brock.
30 minutes or so went by and there was a knock at the front door. Reba already kind of knew who it was. She put her wine glass on the coffee table along side her book and got up to answer the door. "Hey." Reba said. Brock smiled. He was happy to see her. It was amazing how just looking at her or when she said just one word, his heart soared with happiness. "Hey." Brock said as he walked inside. "So, what's up?" Reba asked Brock walking towards the living room. They both plopped down on the couch. "Well, barbara jean and Henry are in fisheye bottom for the weekend. I was bored so I thought I'd come hang out with you." Brock said. Reba was turned to face Brock and she sitting with one foot tucked underneath her and the other foot dangling off the couch. Brock was sitting with his back against the couch and his legs were crossed but he was looking at her. "Well thank you." Reba said with a grin. Boy, did Brock love to see that smile. "Where are the kids?" Brock asked looking around. "Kyra is going to be gone all weekend for a band gig and Jake is at his friend, Nate's for tonight." Reba said. Brock nodded his head. "So I guess you had the house to yourself until I walked in." Brock laughed at his comment. "Yeah, but when have the both of us ever been able to just hang out without anyone around?" Reba asked. Brock was rubbing his fingers gently up and down rebas arm that was pressed up on the couch. "I know." Brock said smiling. They just sat there looking at one another for a good minute or so. "So, Reba, I was thinking earlier about how you've always been there for me. How no matter what happened you helped me and cared for me when we were married and then even when we divorced. And I don't think that I really thanked you for that." Brock said. Reba gave him a sweet smile and took her hand in his. She caressed the top of his hand with her thumb slowly and gently. "You're welcome." Reba simply said. Brock was debating whether he should do what he wanted to do next. But like he always does, he didn't think it all the way through. He looked her straight in her crystal blue eyes. He leaned in and Reba knew what he was about to do. Before she could think his lips were on hers for the first time in a long time. Brock turned his body to face Reba just like she was facing him. Their kiss lasted for about 10 seconds but then Reba realized that what they were doing was wrong. "What's wrong?" Brock asked disappointed after she pulled away from his lips. "Brock, your a married man. We don't need to be doing this." Reba told him. Brock took her hand and kissed the back of her hand. "But Reba, don't you feel it?" He asked. "Feel what?" Reba replied. "The spark we have. Every time we touch, kiss, or whatever else we do, there is a spark." Brock said smiling. "Brock, of course I know there's a spark. It's been there for nearly thirty years. But whether there is a spark or not, we cant do this to barbara jean. Not after what she did to me." Reba said. Brock looked down for a second. "I'm sorry Reba. I just want to be with you again really bad. Its killing me Reba." Brock said with a sad face. "I know you do Brock and I do too. But we need to focus on what's right at the moment and not doing something that will make things more complicated than they already are, no matter how much we both want to. Believe me Brock, it's killing me too. I don't think I've ever wanted something this bad before." Reba said grinning with a small wink. "Are you just trying to torture me?" Brock asked smiling. Reba just laughed. "All I can tell you is, just give it some time and we will see what happens. Who knows, fate could be on our side." She said and then got up from the couch. Brock was replaying what she just said in his mind and then also stood up from the couch. Without saying another word, they both looked at each other and then hugged for a moment. It felt good to hold each other even if it was just for a brief moment. They both took in this feeling knowing that they would not be able to do that for a long time, or never again. Brock then took reba's hand and kissed the top of it softly. Then he dropped her hand and walked out the front door.
