The spirit known as Chiton was trapped between a skyscraper and open air. An arm and a leg were stuck in a pane of glass that wasn't there a moment ago, and his other leg was pulled straight out before him. He tried pushing and pulling himself out, even going so far as to willing himself to reappear in a new place. Nothing worked.

"I'm stuck! Can anyone hear or see me? Help!" He called out, voice shaking. Flashes of colour in the shape of people sparked all around him, ignoring his pleas. He closed his mouth, realizing he had forgotten that the senses he used as a human meant nothing here; disruption in the form of sound usually attracted malicious beings. His own "body" here, what was known as a spirit, was sky blue. It constantly sputtered and faded in and out like the picture on an old television set.

Chiton couldn't return to his body, which was lying on a bed in a world so far away, whilst being stuck like this. Returning could destroy the very fabric of his being; a fate worse than death. Time passes slowly here, he thought, calming himself, his spirit returning to a solid blue. This world is so much like a dream.

He spotted a congregation below, a sea of many colours beginning to surround the skyscraper. Chiton began flickering with a rhythm, signaling to the being that seemed to have felt his panicked energy.

A sliver of darkness was moving towards the man stuck in the skyscraper. Newbie, Raven snarled to himself. He stopped projecting the rainbow and approached a wall of the towering building.Never try to create paths in the middle of a public domain. You could have killed someone, torn their spirit into pieces, cut off contact to their body or gotten them eaten or Lost. More orphans to take to Mu. In any case, I need to get him away from that Shark, or the boss is going to have a fit. I haven't filled my quota yet. He raised his leg, travelling to the man instantly in a flash of red.

"I am Raven, an agent. I will help you return to your body. But you must never, ever, come here again without proper instruction and preparation or attempt to dream here. It's merely transitory. "He saw patterns and lights in the empty hollows that were the spirit's eyes. Good, he's terrified. "Now, I am going to take care of that little thing beforehand though." He pointed at the streak of black, as big as a plane from this vantage point. "Just sit tight. I meant stand tight, sorry." Raven patted the spirit's back, and a small bulb of blue light was affixed to his hand. I might need this bit of extra energy to escape if the fight gets ugly. He stepped onto the side of the skyscraper, his body parallel to the ground and started running towards the Shark.

He folded his palms together, and walls of light rose up from the buildings that surrounded the impending darkness and him. It would prevent other spirits from crashing into the Shark. At least no one else will be eaten. Except maybe me and our lost boy here.

He closed his eyes, briefly seeing his pillow, and his wife sleeping soundly next to him, and opened his third eye. The walls he had created illuminated the otherwise hazy world. The buildings all became transparent wireframes, and the spirits of others moved slowly. The Shark was now no longer a burgeoning cloud of darkness, but the rose coloured spirit of a woman floating away from a white sphere. A tether of light connected them both, draining her energy as the sphere grew.

I've never seen this before. A nightmare masquerading as a Shark? He chuckled, and squeezed the blue bulb in his fist, and threw it at the sphere. It split into needles of blue light that flew straight for the sphere, cutting the leash and imploding it. The woman fell down towards the ground and disappeared. I bet she jumped when she awoke. Raven closed his third eye, and saw his pillow again. His wife wasn't there. He opened his eyes again, wondering where she went, and turned around. The walls disappeared and the man was nowhere to be seen.
