"Delirious?"

The man stopped, the keys in his hand jangling from the tip of his forefinger. "What are you doing down here? I thought-You're usually asleep by now." He watched as Vanoss stepped out from behind a vehicle, wiping his hands with an old rag. "I've been working on the car. Its been running weirdly since the last run, lots of faint noises."

"Ah," Delirious muttered, relaxing. "What are you doing down here? Why do you have your keys?" The blue-eyed man grasped the keys tightly,"I'm just... going for a ride." Evan glanced at his fist before looking back up at him,"But its three in the morning."

"So?" He asked, in a more aggressive and challenging tone than he had meant. Evan held up his hands defensively,"I'm just asking."

Delirious muttered an apology before passing the other man, his head down as he made his way to his own car. "Do you want me to come?" The older man froze, his hand on the car door. "N-no, no thanks. Maybe next time, though."

"But we always go tog-"

"Vanoss," their eyes met, and the pieces clicked in Evan's head. "... There isn't going to be a next time, is there?" The only reply he got was a blank stare. "You aren't actually... you are, aren't you? You're leaving us?"

"Van-" Delirious had started, but was interrupted by the other man. "I don't understand!" Evan stared at him, fury in his eyes,"How can you be so fucking selfish? You thought you were just going to leave the gang with a 'poof?' I can't believe you." Evan had stepped several feet closer to Delirious in his rage, and had the blue-eyed man pressed against his car. "Vanoss, back away plea-"

"Oh, am I in your way of being a cowardly bitch? Whats up? The blood too much now? I remember when you used to-"

"Vanoss, back away."

"Or what?" Evan was seething. This man was supposed to be his best friend, and all of the sudden, out of the blue the man wanted to leave him? With no explanation at all? Hell no. "Or you'll end up like Tyler."

The anger dropped from Evans face in less than two seconds. "Is... is that what this is about?"

Delirious' blank face suddenly twisted into a small smile, one that could only be filled with such misery and suffering even naive little Evan saw through it. "It always happens, Vanoss. I get so close to someone and-I can't do this anymore. I can't play this sick fucking game any longer, just waiting to be found and rounded up by the Feds like chickens in a henhouse. I don't want anyone to get hurt because of me anymore, Evan. I don't want you to get hurt because of me. You saw what happened to Tyler, you were there. If the car had swerved to the right-Evan, you wouldn't be here."

"But that wasn't your faul-"

"It was, and you know it, we both know it." For once, Evan was quiet. Delirious used this leverage to his advantage. "I'm leaving, but not for my own safety. For everyone else's, now please, back away."

The man only stared.

Delirious gently pushed him out of the way and, receiving no resistance, opened up the car door and got in. Evan glanced at the back seat, and what he saw scared him. There were clothes, and money, and even several weapons, it all made the man realize something. Delirious had planned this for days.

"Wait, wait, stop. Stop," he begged, his hand stopping Delirious from closing the door,"You can't leave us like this, please." The other man only shook his head with a whisper,"Evan, I'm suffering here. I'm selfish, I know, you said so yourself, but I can't do this anymore."

"How are you suffering, Jon? Tell me, tell me and we can fix it." Their eyes met again before Delirious spoke,"Mentally, Evan, now how are we going to fix that?"
