"What do you thinks gonna happen?"
The group sat in a small circle in the field, the day started to die as summer nights came to an end. A small breeze lingered through setting a calm mood
"What ya mean?" Lisa questioned
"Schools finished, what you all planning to do..." James replied to her and the rest of the gang as he flicked the remaining ash from the end of his cigarette
Silence swallowed them for a few minutes, they hadn't really thought of life after school. Growing up was happening fast and most weren't prepared.
"Drugs, girls, money. I'll be fine" Rob spoke up through the joint hanging from his lip
"You cocky fucker" James hissed jokingly
"Who cares, we've got years to figure it all out. Just relaaaax" Rob closed his eyes leaning back with a rock supporting his head.
They all laughed together filling the air with happiness and smoke.
Rob knew he didn't have years to figure out his life but he withheld his laid back persona which the group knew well hiding his fear of a life without any qualifications and petty criminal records."...I was thinking...maybe college.." Karen said aloud gazing at the grass playing with it
They all looked at her
"To do what? It's just school all over again" Lisa tilted her head in confusion
"...mum wants me to do English or something" Karen shrugged her small shoulders
"Alright lads!" John strolled over holding a plastic bag in one hand and a can of cheap lager in the other. He sat down in a gap between them all.
Michelle came trailing behind him out of breath taking a gulp of lager and sitting down.
John poured the bag out revealing a selection of cheap beer and munchies.
"Timmy Dowl's having a party tomorrow, invited us.""Who?" Lisa said
"Not a gay thing is it?" Rob sat up taking a beer teasing him
"No it's not, thought you all would've appreciated me asking if you all could come but okay then." The tone of annoyance danced in Johns voice
"Free booze and drugs, I'll come" Michelle spoke causing the rest to come to an agreement of going.
The night dragged on, they stayed of most of it.
Drinking and laughing with one another.
No care of what the future was.
