I look at the roman soldier, then back at the coins, I take the coins with glee and get back up, wiping the dust off of my knees; I go up to my wife and show her this marvelous little form of currency. As she looks at the coins astounded I see a little group of them go off to a place where no one can hear them, I soon follow.
"These people are uncivilized savages, more animal then human!!" one roman soldier says to another. "I know, Gaul already had permanent towns when we went there; and their tribes were much more hierarchically stable than these tribes. These people live for themselves and are separated from each other! We've seen the other tribes fighting with each other and the biggest settlement we have seen so far have been 25 houses with people and animals LIVING UNDER THE SAME ROOF!" the roman soldier says as he hits his fist against a tree.
"The marshes that cover this territory are REPULSIVE, and the forests make one shiver with fear. What disturbs me the most is that there are no roads or trade routes and there are no fixed points to aim for, no castles or strongholds to take; just these dreadful, impenetrable forests that took us 9 days to come across! We can not perform our military tactics and logistics here. Being sent here to find life in this freezing place is punishment!" rambled the 3rd soldier.
"If we walked through here for 60 days we would never know the end of this forest, or where we were in it!" shouted the 4th soldier. I come up behind them and firmly grab their shoulders, they look at my long, chestnut brown hair that is pulled up in a side knot and down to my tattered but very warm, cozy garments in jealousy, but smile. "Well hello friend!" one of them shouts. "Hello! So.. What are you guys planning to do around here..?" they reply in unison with a smile: "We are going to trade with you, and we want to show you our homeland and our ways of life, for your furs and hides we will give you coin and other valuables from our homeland, we will build statues in your honor!" my grim, full lips turn into somewhat of a smile, my cheeks red from the cold. I pull my hood over and walk away, raising a hand. "As you say." I am starting to become suspicious of them, but if they decide to wage civil war on us, we can take them, for we are in the favorable hands of the god of war, Teiwaz.
