I wake up to the sound of chit chatting, I rub my tired eyes, opening them up as Alba comes up and looks into my dark, deep brown eyes, she pulls me in and kisses me passionately, then pulls away to jump up full of ebullient and pure, raw energy. "Adalbern, oh Adalbern do come quick please!!! The Romans brought gifts!!!! Some things I've rarely or never have seen!!!" Her hand firmly closed up on my wrist, I couldn't move my arm hardly as she dragged me outside, the bright sun blinding me as I groan and cover my face with my long, chestnut brown hair to shield my tired eyes; I finally move my hair out of my face and look around, scratching my scruffy goatee as I look around, seeing Roman and German man getting along, I see men trading things like charms and wool clothing for olive oil, even sugar and fresh water! Oh how I adore water, I love to drink it any chance I get for the water here is polluted and all we have to drink most of the time is beer, I run over and shake hands with a fellow tribesman of mine then look to the Roman soldier and nod in approval, I shake his hand as he about drops a hefty bag of grain, I help support it back up over his shoulder and pat his back, grinning a broad and beaming grin.
"Say, thank you for all these gifts of the trade!" I exclaim to him, "What's your name??" he gulps and answers: "O-oh! Well, I'm Flavius.. My you're very tall.. And strong looking.. And your name might be..?" He says as he looks up at me, I give him a reassuring smile that everything is alright and I pat his back again, harder this time, knocking some air out of his feeble lungs without meaning to; "I'm Adalbern!!! And well, you seem scrawny and thin like a javelin shaft!!! But anyhow, thank you kindly for trading with us.. We appreciate this very much.." Flavius starts to relax his shoulders and unwind, he gives a warm smile and replies "You're welcome.." I go off with a hardy skip in my step, pondering to myself, wow.. Maybe they aren't so bad.. I see Adalwin slumping over on a log with a supercilious and disgusted look on his face. I go up to him and ask him these 3 straightforward and effortless words: "Are you okay?"
Adalwin scowls at me "Oh, yes, I'm just fine, with ya know, no one listening to me as these men are here to take away our rights.. It's evil.. They're evil.." I smirk at him in dubiety and with incertitude I say calmly: "It is ALRIGHT Adalwin... They're okay.. It'll be A-OKAY.."
