I was on my way home and suddenly I started crying. I don't know why. I sat down by a tree and leaned against it. "What's your name, child?" I heard the tree say to me, startling me a bit. "Elizabeth." I answered simply. "Elizabeth." I heard the grass mutter to each other, my name rippling throughout the abandoned lot I was on. "That's a pretty name. Sorry for startling you. Now, what is wrong?" The tree asked. "I am not normal. People call me crazy, weird, e-even insane." I said, struggling to get the words out of my mouth. "I'm constantly teased because of how I look and act. I don't like it, n-not one b-bit." I added on. "Well, I don't think anyone would like that." The tree answered. "I'm sorry, I don't think I ever asked you name?" I said to the tree, wanting to be able to address her properly. "My name is Maple. I get lonely, many of the other trees here don't talk much. It is an honor to meet you." Maple said gently to me. "It really I-isn't. I'm n-not honorable. I said, my face wet with tears.

We sat in silence together for a while. I was almost dozing off when my watch beeped. 4:27 pm it read. I had to hurry home, my parents would be home early tonight. "I must go, it was great to meet you Maple. I'll come again." I said to Maple. "Please do!" She replied as I left and started walking home.
