My screams of terror drowned out the air rushing through my ears as I plummeted to the earth. Arms flailing, I couldn't think about anything other than meeting my imminent death below. This couldn't be the end... could it? Falling to my death after being sucked into a video game? What a stupid way to go. Oh well, nothing to do but accept it, I suppose. It was a miserable seventeen years anyway. I sighed, closed my eyes, and became at peace with myself as the ground rushed closer and closer to eventually collide with my body. Danny, I'll be with you very soon...
My silent, black slumber was broken by a young female voice. Distant at first, then growing closer as I apparently regained consciousness. "Chrom, we have to do something," she said.
"What do you propose we do?" a very familiar male voice responded.
"I... I dunno," she said, concern arising in her voice.
As I opened my eyes, two figures standing over me came into view. One looked like a girl about the same age as me, and the other looked like... Chrom?! I couldn't believe it; he was here right in front of me! I thought he was dead! I'm still just trying to get over the fact that I survived the fall.
When the pair had noticed that I had opened my eyes, they both turned to me, simultaneously sighing with relief. They both bent over me, Chrom saying, "I see you're awake now."
"Hey there!" the girl said, giggling.
I turned back to Chrom. He smiled, saying, "There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know." Haha, aren't you hilarious ! I thought sarcastically. As if I really had a choice... "Give me your hand." He then outstretched his hand, and I took it graciously. I felt the same, now-familiar blush rise to my cheeks as I took his hand, and he pulled me to my feet. Did I have some weird fetish with guys helping me get up? I felt the heat on my cheeks get even warmer when I realized how close we were, and that he was looking right into my eyes. Apparently, he was completely oblivious as to how I was mentally hyperventilating on the inside, because all he asked me was, "You all right?"
"Y-yeah," I stammered, "Thanks... Chrom."
His face contorted with suspicion. "Ah, then you know who I am?"
Uh-oh. I couldn't tell him the truth, could I? They would never believe it. C'mon, Leila, improvise! "No, actually, I... It's strange... Your name, it just... came to me..." Brilliant. Just brilliant.
"...Hmm, how curious," he replied. His confusion turned back into a poker face. Honestly, I couldn't tell if he was buying it or not. "Tell me, what's your name? What brings you here?"
"My name is... It's- umm," was all I could manage to say before another all-too-familiar migraine exploded throughout my head. If the migraines have some connection to the game, then this is definitely real.
"... You don't know your own name?" His face contorted back into suspicion.
Here was a question I really didn't know the answer to. Looking around me, I asked, "I'm not sure if... I'm sorry, but where are we, exactly?" We were surrounded by plains of grass with mountains in the distance.
The petite, blond girl suddenly chimed in. "Hey! I've heard of this! It's called amnesia!" Perfect! I'll just play dumb! It's not like there's much I know about this game, anyway.
