Jasmine.
I slowly came to a halt from my evening jog while removing one of my headphones from my ear. Frowning confusingly at the sight of August standing on my front porch with a bouquet of white roses, I slowly walked up my walk way with my arms folded over each other.
"What are you doing here?"
"Oh, uh, I thought I'd stop by before I leave town."
I stared at him for a moment before nodding my head as I stepped on my porch, becoming face to face with his chest. I lifted my head so my eyes could meet with his.
"Well, what's with the roses? I don't really like white roses anymore because of the incident."
"Oh, um, I'm sorry-"
"Don't be sorry. You didn't know."
"Yeah..."
I sighed as the silence between us grew awkward before reaching my hand toward the door knob.
"Wanna come in?"
He looked at me with a wide smile, quickly nodding his head up and down. I smiled softly while opening the door and stepping inside. I moved over to stand beside the door so he could come inside. I closed the door and locked it once he made it in.
"Nice house you got," he said while gazing around.
"Oh, thanks. It's not really much," I responded with a chuckle.
"Well I like it. It's fit for a small family," he added, implying something that I couldn't quite catch.
"And what do you mean by that?"
Before answering my question, he walked toward the dining room table and placed the bouquet of roses on it. I stood in my same spot just in case he decided to try something. He turned around to face me while staying in the dining room.
"I don't know. Maybe the fact that I keep telling you that I want you back or it could be that I actually want a real relationship with you."
"August, I'm not doing this with you. I don't wanna put myself back in those predicaments. Yes, I miss you, but I don't miss the way you treated me. I know I might've ruined us when I slept with Isaiah but I was only doing that to get back at you. You publicly humiliated me every chance you got. You even hid Nicole from me. I tried to move past all that and continue to give you chances but this last time, it was just the final straw."
"Jasmine, I'm begging you. I promise I'll do right this time. I know I wasn't the best boyfriend but please? I'm not lying when I say I've changed!"
"After everything? Give me a legit reason as to why I should consider taking you back."
"I've cha-"
"That's not a good enough reason," I interrupted him before sighing. "Is it because you see I'm happy with someone else? Is that it?"
He sighed loudly before stepping over to me while removing his hands from his pockets. I placed my left foot behind me and tried to step back but he reached out and grabbed the side of my shirt, pulling me closer to him.
