Merrin's POV

The deafening crunch followed by a bloodcurdling scream brought me to my scenes.

"Tsarria!" I shouted as I looked up to see her with one foot on the mans back letting go of his arms that fell as though the had been ripped from their sockets which I had thought they probably had been. After that Tsarria collapsed and rushed forward to catch her.

"Merrin?" she mumbled

"Yes," I answered, "I'm here."

"I'm sorry," she whispered and passed out.

"I know Tsarria,"I whispered back, "I know."

"Hey-you two -ok." A battered and out of breath Derick came up the ally toward us.

"Yeah we are she's just exhausted." I answered standing with Tsarria in my arms.

"Can you carry her Merrin?"

"Of course I can why do you ask?"

"You look a little worse for wear yourself."

"I'll be ok."

I stood with Tsarria in my arms  and carried her back to the car. As Derick drove home I thought about what I saw. What exactly was Tsarria, why didn't she fight back like that before? I decided that my questions could wait till she was fully healed and conscious. After I laid Tsarria back in the bed I sat with Derick on the couch.

"Man Mer, I haven't fought like that I a long time," Derick sat there with an ice pack on a bruise over his left eye, he grinned, " Felt good though."

"Don't get used to it," I warned, " That wont get you any points in college."

"Not at all." he exclaimed startled." Just to protect myself and-"

"And?"

"And to protect those I care about."

"Wow Der, that's deep."

"Don't mock me, its true."

"I know I just never expected you to come out and say it."

Derick sighed, "It puts a real damper in the tough guy act."

"I like it.' I smiled, in spite of all that had happened that night I felt that all was right with the world for now any way.

Tsarria's POV

I woke up back in Merrin's bed, all my muscles hurt, the shade mode must put a lot of strain on this human form.

I decided I better explain myself so i dressed and went down stairs. the boys were siting on the couch watching television. Meriin noticed me, smiled and motioned for me to sit next to him. i sat and he put his arm around me as Derick swetched off the TV.

"We have some questions." Merrin started.

'I know so here it goes." i started and told them how im a shade, an extra terestrial being, and how my job here is to steal a life to be come a full fledged shade and that it has to be by inflicting a young male and how I was running out of time but i couldent bring my self to infect either of them.

"Well there is always Mark..."

"Derick!" Merrin shouted astonished.

"Merrin that was his gang didn't you recognize them?" Derick shot back, "H-how would you feel if we hadn't got there in time?"

"Why are you the one who's about to cry?"

"Guys please."

Merrin turned to me and wiped a tear from my face I hadn't even realized I had been crying. "I'm sorry Tsarria it's just been a long night I think we're all a bit emotional.

Merrin's POV

I couldn't bare seeing her cry after wiping away a tear I pulled her into a bear hug.

"It's ok we're all safe now no need to worry." I said, but I knew every thing was not ok my girl friend was a shade what did that mean for our relationship. I felt an incredible love for this girl is there any way to make her stay?
